the gelato was good but the service made me unable to enjoy it and unwilling to return.
the woman who serviced me here was incredibly rude and made me uncomfortable being in the shop. I noticed the shop had a lavender flavor and I wanted to try it because I have seen it around Hvar and wanted to honor a local flavor instead of getting my usual. I unfortunately didn’t love it so I wanted to give one more a chance. I want to preface this by saying I NEVER sample at ice cream places because I fear that I will annoy the workers. I only did so this time because the other two in my party ordered instantly without any samples and there was no lines so I thought it would be okay and I really wanted to give local flavors a try.
After my first sample, when I asked for a second, I got an eye roll and a hesitated “fine. BUT after this one you must decide.” I said yes of course I am so sorry for any hassle and immediately felt bad for even asking for the sample. I instantly ate it and ordered my cone and was given a huff followed by “are you sure this time. This is the one you want.” I said yes and received a displeased expression. I again apologized and didn’t receive a response. This whole interaction further solidified my feelings of anxiousness for asking for a sample or recommendation and instead made me want to avoid the entire place altogether.
I understand the frustration of dealing with tourists all day but the interaction was unwarranted and spoiled the evening....
Read moreHate to leave a bad review due to service but this was very necessary. The moment we got in tonight, we quickly let the Croatian couple behind us go ahead of us since we thought we’d look at the options briefly. We told the couple “feel free to go ahead of us if you know what you’d like”. The couple and the worker then spoke in Croatian for maybe 7 minutes while we were just standing there patiently (though surprised) waiting to order. They were laughing, chatting, as if we didn’t belong there. Super strange.
Once the couple left and the workers mood switched immediately and she was cold and unkind to us for absolutely no reason. I’d hope it’s not being we are foreigners, but I have no idea.
I came with a smile, asked if I can try two flavors (pointed out the two) and she said “no, you can have one flavor, we are closing”(sign said they closed an hour later, to note, plus we’ve been waiting while she had a personal conversation with people we kindly let in front of us)…with a rude tone and expression. Then she just handed me on flavor without asking me which one I preferred.
We got the clear message that she did not want to serve us, we just politely said we’re okay, wished her a good night and left.
Very unfortunate way to...
Read moreHands down the best gelato in Croatia! aRoma is an absolute gem. The flavors are rich, creamy, and clearly made with high-quality, fresh ingredients. You can taste the difference—especially in the pistachio, which is perfectly nutty and not overly sweet. The staff are friendly and happy to let you sample before deciding (which is a lifesaver when everything looks amazing). The setting is clean, stylish, and welcoming, and whether you're strolling through town or taking a break from sightseeing, it’s the perfect treat. aRoma easily rivals gelato I’ve had in Italy. Don’t miss this place if you’re in Croatia—it’s...
