Vintage Bar Hvar — Restaurant in Grad Hvar

My wife and I visited Croatia at the end of September 2024. As 19 year vegans, we weren’t sure how many options and how much variety we would find, especially in Hvar. We happened to see their sign by the water and tried the restaurant the first night that we were there.

We were blown away. We tried 4 different menu items over 2 nights. The seitan “chicken” bites and bao buns, which we had both nights, were the best. The dumplings and tuna stack weren’t far behind. The meals were so good that I still bring it up to my wife daily since we’ve returned home. I dream about those seitan “chicken” bites! If this place was in my town, I’d eat there many days a week.

I don’t know if we’ll ever make it back to Hvar, but I felt the obligation to say hvala for having such amazing vegan options. I’d put those items I listed above in my top 10 meals of my life. This is a must try for anyone...

I had dinner here few days ago, and I was amazed with the whole experience. Ambient is georgeous, in the middle of old stone walls in the cute and lively street, and little lights everywhere… We sat for a drink but after seeing the menu we decided to get some food also… All the dishes we tried were so interesting and delicious. Tuna tartar is one of the best I’ve had so far, but I also have to mention vegan “chicken” bites which I loved, and I am not even vegetarian. Also, crispy artichokes have been interesting because I have never tried them with chokeberry marmelade - yummy! Cocktails are also very good - especially esspresso martini, but the food was a great surprise. Waitors were lovely and we felt very welcomed and cozy...
