Mokosh is a hidden oasis nestled in the heart of Split. Its ambiance exudes tranquility and beauty, offering a unique experience to visitors. During my visits, I had the opportunity to experience various aspects of Mokosh—from weekend brunches and lunches to dinners and organized events. Both the interior and exterior are thoughtfully designed, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff is exceptionally friendly and attentive, and their cocktail offerings further enhance the overall experience. I would like to highlight my most recent visit on March 1st, when Mokosh hosted a “Magic Night.” Alongside a four-course dinner, guests were entertained by magician Hrvoje, known as H illusionist. His interactive performance left a lasting impression, providing an evening filled with surprises and laughter. Experiencing live magic for the first time in Croatia, I was captivated by Mister H’s original acts, making the night unforgettable. Hrvoje’s ability to engage the audience, combined with his courteous and personalized approach, significantly enhanced the overall experience. Each trick was mesmerizing and left us in awe. With dynamic performance and smiles, the evening flew by. Notably, he transformed a deck of cards into glass, multiplied rabbits in my hand, and, upon my imagining a lemon, made my friend’s hands smell like it. Mister H never runs out of inspiration; he leaves you speechless and breathless while maintaining maximum attention. Events like these enrich Split’s cultural scene, and I hope to see more of them in the future. I look forward to future opportunities to witness H illusionist’s performances at Mokosh or other venues, as his talent and passion are truly commendable.

I don’t often leave reviews, but our evening at Mokosh in Split was so exceptional that it deserves recognition. From start to finish, the experience felt thoughtfully curated. The ceviche and suckling pig stood out as highlights—beautifully prepared, full of flavor, and clearly made with care. Behind every dish, you can sense a kitchen team that values seasonality, creativity, and detail, blending tradition with innovation in a way that feels both confident and personal. The service was outstanding—warm, professional, and genuinely attentive. Even before we arrived, the team was helpful and communicative. During our meal, our waiter took the time to understand our preferences and guided us to a wine pairing that matched our food beautifully. Mokosh is more than a restaurant—it feels like a culinary journey. Every element, from the plating to the pacing, reflects a team deeply invested in their craft. The setting is equally special: tucked inside a restored Art Nouveau villa surrounded by a lush Mediterranean garden, it’s a peaceful escape from Split’s busy center. With soft lighting and the sound of a nearby fountain, the ambiance is elegant and relaxed. The cocktail and wine list deserves a special mention—unique, garden-inspired drinks made with house syrups and herbs that were as thoughtful as the food. If you're in Split and want to slow down, enjoy great company, and savor exceptional food in a stunning setting, Mokosh is not to be missed. We’ll definitely return on our next visit. Huge thanks to the entire team—both in the kitchen and on the floor—for an unforgettable evening.

We visited Mokosh fora late lunch and were immediately charmed by its beautiful location—tucked away in a Mediterranean garden right in the heart of Split. It’s a serene and lovely spot that sets high expectations for a relaxing and quality meal. We tried the ceviche, Mediterranean seafood stew (brudet), and pasta with lobster sauce. While the ceviche was flavorful, it leaned too heavily on the salt. Unfortunately, the other dishes lacked seasoning entirely. The brudet featured just two scampi and four small pieces of monkfish, while the majority of the dish was made up of potatoes. It was bland and underwhelming. The pasta suffered the same fate—unsalted and lacking the depth of flavor you’d expect from a dish with a lobster-based sauce. Service was friendly, but not well-trained. Our kind waitress seemed a bit lost—we had to arrange our plates ourselves, and the brudet came without a spoon, which made eating it more of a challenge than it should have been. Despite the culinary shortcomings, we still enjoyed the peaceful garden atmosphere and the earnest, if clumsy, service. That said, the pricing does not reflect the quality of the food, and for that reason, we’re giving it 3 stars.

The menu has “sharing a plates” section at the start and lists prices per person (we were two people).

We ordered 2 starters to share and we charged correctly for them.

We ordered the suckling pig to share (for two) as main priced at 36 Euros per person and were charged 108 Euros (for three people).

When we asked the waiter we were told that we were being unreasonable as later in the menu it says “for two or three people”. And apparently that means a minimum charge of 3 people regardless of how many are eating. And it doesn’t state that anywhere.

It’s a shame as the music and atmosphere and quality of food were great. But we feel like due to being tourists they have decided to “take the piss”

Terrible first experience of Split

RE: Your comment below. It is very disingenuous to have prices listed as "per person" but for your actual price to be a hidden total based on a vague 2-3 people (for example). If you're intention is for the first page of the menu to be for large groups perhaps making that clearer and when 2 customers order from that page your waiters should inform them that they are ordering a meal intended for 3 or more people and that its recommended to use the main menu for smaller groups.

It was also very insulting and rude of your "Maitre d'" to basically infer that we were stupid and that it was our fault and not the unclear menu. He was very argumentative and combative which when there is clearly and understandably a point of confusion on the menu, the least he could have done is given us a complimentary drink or refunded us the tip or some such. For our first meal in Split to cost the equivalent of a degustation menu in Sydney left a very bitter taste in our mouth, quality of food and...
