We were excited for our last evening meal of our trip in Split at Noir after seeing photos of the food. The decor inside the restaurant was very beautiful and the lady stood outside was also nice however I would seriously AVOID this restaurant. The drinks came quickly and we ordered the fish and carbonara. When it came the carbonara was completely scrambled so we told the waiter and he looked at us confused and said yes? Everyone knows a carbonara does not contain scrambled eggs. So he sternly took the plate away and didn’t say anything. A different waiter brought back a new carbonara by that time my partner had finished his meal which was slightly better but the service was atrocious after that. They were talking about us in the restaurant which was very quiet so extremely obvious and then after a while took our plates away and never came back. They didn’t even ask if we wanted dessert as we were going to try the soufflé but they just left us sat there. A poor couple next to us also seemed to have bad service as the gentleman asked if he could swap his mash for salad and the waiter just looked astonished and was like “ why would you do that?”. After they never showed up to the table again we got up and paid the bill at the bar ourselves - not to mention all the waiters were just sat down chatting to each other anyway. For an Italian restaurant the food was abysmal and the service was terrible. Management really needs to get on top of the customer service of the waiters otherwise they should not be in hospitality. Extremely disappointed...
Read moreRestaurant Noir in Split is truly a pleasant surprise and a recommendation for anyone who appreciates good pasta and expertly crafted dishes. During my visit, I was convinced that this is a place that understands the importance of quality, especially when it comes to simple dishes like Cacio e Pepe. Although the recipe is minimal, they use exceptionally high-quality cheese that lends a special creaminess and texture to the dish. Unfortunately, the staff told me that the demand for Cacio e Pepe isn’t very high, which surprised me since they prepare it excellently. Unlike the classic recipe, in my opinion, they use a milder version of pecorino here, tailored to the tastes of most guests, though I personally would prefer a slightly more intense pecorino flavor.
As for the service, there could be a bit more attention and presence from the staff, but I actually appreciated that we weren't constantly interrupted. I prefer this relaxed atmosphere to the feeling of being "pestered" every few minutes. So, kudos to the staff. I was able to order the Cacio e Pepe even though it wasn’t on the main menu, but luckily for me, it was still available.
To end on a high note, the dessert exceeded all expectations – perfectly prepared, rich in flavor, and definitely worth saving room for as the sweet finishing touch.
All in all, Restaurant Noir definitely exceeds expectations. It's one of the rare places in Split that I would always happily recommend to Italian...
Read moreI went to eat at a small restaurant I had noticed a while ago. The decor was kind of nice, dimly lit, but nothing special. When I arrived, I stood at the entrance for a good five minutes before anyone came to greet me, even though the place wasn’t particularly busy.
They seated me at a slightly wobbly table right next to the bathrooms—not the most pleasant spot, especially with people constantly going in and out. I ordered the daily special (chicken curry) and a glass of water. The wait was quite long, around 30 minutes. When the dish finally arrived, it was lukewarm, not really hot, and the rice was sticky, like it had been reheated in a microwave. Taste-wise… it was okay, but completely bland. Definitely didn’t feel homemade.
The waiter wasn’t rude, but not very attentive either. He never checked in to see if everything was okay, and I had to get up to ask for the bill.
All in all, it wasn’t a disaster, but honestly not an experience I’d recommend. Just… average and a bit...
