I recently had the pleasure of dining at Uje in Split, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. First and foremost, the restaurant's location is charming, tucked away on a quiet, not crowded street, which adds to its appeal. The ambiance is quaint and inviting, making it perfect for a relaxed meal. The personnel at Uje were exceptional—friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. They made us feel welcome and provided excellent service throughout our visit. Now, let's talk about the food. It was simply outstanding. Each dish was expertly prepared, showcasing the freshness of local ingredients and traditional flavors. From the flavorful seafood to the mouthwatering grilled meats, every bite was a testament to the chef's skill and dedication. Overall, Uje is a gem of a restaurant in Split, offering a combination of great personnel, very tasty food, and a cute location on a quiet street. Whether you're a local or a visitor exploring the city, I highly recommend stopping by Uje for a memorable dining experience. It's a place where passion for food and hospitality truly shine.

There are tons of restaurants in Split, and I can't say we've been to all of them. But, we did our fair share (including top rated/Tripadvisor recommended etc), and came back to Uje. The food is just extremely well balanced. Homemade pasta with smoked seafood doesn't taste all like tomatoes/ketchupy, but instead brings out smoky flavors along with pasta and seafood. Lamb tastes lamby, but not overpoweringly so, and in combination with potatoes and (waiter-recommended) Stina Plavac Mali is some of the best food I've tasted ever. And homemade ice cream with olive oil ❤️ Service is fast, friendly, and we didn't have to wait for our table more than 5 minutes. It's not the cheapest, and you need to know what menu items mean (cuttlefish, anyone?). Portions are not huge, but also not tiny - just the right size.

We did the olive oil tasting experience here and was served by the most wonderful women (I forget her name but she really was fantastic). The tasting was a lot of fun, we learnt so much and really enjoyed ourselves. The oils were delicious and we had the perfect window seat for people watching. We were taught about the origins of the oils, processing, and top tips for tasting! I would absolutely recommend this place for anyone wanting an authentic Croatian lunch/drinks. It really added to our time in split and made it very special. It's tucked away in the cobbled streets of split and is a real gem. They have a gift shop too which we bought lots from and love using our Croatian rock flower salt while back at home!

Our visit was a bit disappointing. We chose Uje for the last meal of our holiday, the menu seemed really well thought out with lots of traditional Croatian food and fresh ingredients. We booked a table on the day and the lady who made our booking couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. However when we arrived for our meal it all went a bit downhill. When booking we were asked if we'd like a table outside which we did, however on arrival we were given a table inside squashed in-between 3 others by the bar/kitchen. Our server was friendly initially but then seemed to forget about us and was quite brisk with his service when he did come to the table, didn't seem interested in interacting with us at all. This would have been fine if it wasn't for the fact he was extremely friendly and chatty to the American couple next to us, even giving them drinks on the house. the food was mediocre for the price. My buratta was nice but my partner's steak tartare was a bit too mushy and tasteless. I had the pasticada (beef stew) for main which was tasty but some of the beef was quite dry as if it had been cooked and then left out a while before being reheated. 24 euros also felt quite steep. My partner had the grilled octopus which was okay, but again was bland. All in all it could have been great but feels like they've let standards slip as they know they're always going to be busy due to the location. we left feeling deflated and a bit like we weren't wanted there. Would recommend Konoba GregoLevante instead where the food and service...

Will not serve you tap water, been drinking the tap water all week it’s good and it’s not raining. Hummus and cracker, not enough cracker! Ordered bread and oils, had to ask a second time for the bread, no oils came with bread, just the one on the table. Had we not ordered bread there would have been no way of eating the hummus other than off a knife and fork! Food, mine and husband’s was Luke warm at best, no one came to ask how the food was until we more or less had finished, the food itself was ok, small portions and needed to be hot, the green creamy smear of veg was completely cold and Luke warm roast potatoes and fish are not the best. Husband asked for a second drink, it never arrived. Sat for a long time with our finished mains plates in front of us, service not great and when given was rushed. Inattentive waiters. Would not go again nor recommend. The poorest food experience of our holiday. Apology but nothing else. Not sure why the cover charge was added, no cloths and no complimentary bread, no offer of removing this considering they could see how unsatisfactory we felt it was. Two different waiters served, first waiter blamed this on why the second drink didn’t arrive, well then obviously crossing over waiters isn’t working is it. No photos, it wasn’t...
