Well, rarely I run into a full surprise, but Elements definitely is. I wanted a quick bite. Coming from the office, plenty of work ahead. Saw the bar from outside, thought that looks like a bar where they will not serve the worst club sandwich of my life...
Make a long story short. The quick bite took a few hours!
Consomme fantastic, great idea to have large thinly cut beef cuts in the soup where they slowly dissolve when eating with patience (what of course I didn't manage to do).
Tartar, well flavoured with an all natural cocktail of herbs and the 2025 indispensable egg yolk confit... I know it is good and the show effect worth something and other than the others this Tartar still had a creamy texture without the trickery... Taste was decent, but maybe it misses a little firework... Just maybe... And who am I to judge 😎
Flank steak... Yes, daring... I mean flank steak in a restaurant setting... Rarely gets the love it needs and easily becomes a fitting counterpart to your tounge until you're not sure what you chew on. Again, nicely done with a highlight presentation of oyster mushrooms and parsley salad (boooom - make it a seperate dish), the flank stayed true to its nature... A little bit.
Duck breast, parsnip puree, pear. You were not here and cannot understand why elements until you ate this dish... And you probably won't leave either, after you had it. Don't break your teeth with the raw parsnip, but enjoy the sweetness of it's earthy puree with the texture and distinctiveness of the pear and the mouth watering tenderness of the duck breast. I never had naughty thoughts when I read "duck breasts" , but I'll not forget this booby quality 😜
The starter's pork belly makes a great intermediate passage, great flavours, clean fatty bite and the soft touch of ginger somewhere... Ahhhuhhhohh... Just do it!
Oh yes. One more thing before turning sweety... Take a coffee... Espresso... What a game changer. Sweet-sour with just so much bitterness as Mia Wallace featured in her date with Vincent Vega... And just like I always replay this scene, I had to order a second one...
Taste the sweets yourself. Come on a Monday when they're not triple booked out... Thanks to the great service staff who really define "service" and do not hesitate to make your stay a great one.
Also noticed are the many friendly smiles from the beautiful girls who happen to hang out here... Well, Brno has it...
But one thing. PLEASE give me a decent white cotton napkin. Your food deserves it and I do as well... These paper thingies are a let down.
Best experience in Brno. Vittorio and Elements... These are my pendulum's endpoints...
07.2025: And here I am a few months later and nothing has changed. It's still my fav restaurant at this point and don't get me wrong, there are some that hit a higher score for perfection, there are others that beat them in creativity and of course there will be always one that has the upper hand in luxurious service and ingredients...
BUT there is NO other where I come with my laptop, settle outside on some cushion in front of the Bar's window and the Barkeeper gets my Business context and silently passes a perfect Gin Tonic without much attitude. There is NO other where I then walk in, have a seat at my fav table without much havoc and service staff saltos. And of course there is NO other where I find always new food or combinations and have no prob to sell myself that the wine accompaniment is calory-wise compensated by the wise low carb creatiins of the food courses.
Call me a fan boy, but Elements is THE deal for me! But still... GIVE ME SOME LINEN NAPKINS! I get goosebumps from just thinking of these naughty paper towels that touch me skin in this...
Read moreWe were so excited to try out this restaurant as we heard good things and read great reviews, however we were leaving completely disappointed and dissatisfied.
First of all, when we got seated 3 servers swang by to take our order so I guess it was a first sign that our table probably wasn't assigned to anyones section. We ordered some drinks, appetizer and main course. The drinks came fast and so did the appetizer. We finished everything and waited for our main course. And we waited for 45 minutes while getting completely ignored by the staff, no eye contact, no concern about us being out of our cocktails, nothing. We asked the hostess who walked by if she can check on our food and she came back saying it will be another 2-3 min. After another 15 minutes of waiting I waved down the server who walked by and I said I'm sorry but we've been waiting for an hour for our main course. And she says yes I know I'm going to check with the kitchen and you choose drinks on us. You guys, this is not how you deal with problems. If someone came and said we are sorry, we screwed up, kitchen is super busy, it will take longer than normally we would have no problem whatsoever to wait longer. But no one talked to us, no one apologized for the inconvenience, nothing but pure arrogance. When the food came we were already completely turned off but decided we want to enjoy the rest of the night anyway. We asked for the dessert menu after. Waited another good 20 minutes while being ignored by the server who was standing close by. This was the last straw and we decided to leave.
I don't know if this was just a bad luck or if this is how your staff works on regular basis but if I consider how much you are charging for your food and cocktails and you come here for a great experience, this was nothing like that.
We definitely won't be back and I'm sorry guys but I cannot highlight a single thing that we actually enjoyed.
I hope you will take this in to the consideration and will address it...
Read moreUnfortunately, that was the most disappointing meal I can recall having in years. The cocktails were nice and the waiters were friendly, but that's where it ended for me. I had the trout and sauerkraut as a starter, which really wasn't good - very little trout, loads of sauerkraut and a lake of sauerkraut juice at the bottom of the plate, which completely took over the flavour of the whole dish and it was overwhelmingly sour. I couldn't even taste the fish. And to top it off, it had rough chops of parsley and dill, which looked okay on presentation but really weren't nice to eat. I was hoping my main dish would save the night - the Hanger steak with celeriac gratin and shallot. It looked promising, but once I bit into it, I simply could not chew the beef. No matter how finely I cut it and spent ages trying to chew an individual piece, it was like a chewing gum and would simply not disintegrate. After swallowing a couple bites whole like a bird, eventually I had to spit out the next bite and left the rest untouched. It was such a disappointment, the cheap kebab I had down the road the night before was way better. This was such a waste of money.
And to top it off, when we went to find the hostess who took our coats at the start, she couldn't tell which ones were ours - it went like: 'Is this yours?', 'Is that one yours?'. We had to go through multiple people's coats ourselves and could have easily taken someone else's coat if we wanted to or by a mistake. You'd think they would put some sort of system in place if they're taking your personal items and leaving them out (like numbers?)... This restaurant is really not worth the rating it has on Google Maps, and I very much regret spending my...
