Lunch menu was tasty and arrived quickly, but the overall experience is really poor. 2/5 = I didn't like it.
The entrance door was wide open all the time and inside there was a strong draught that made me change tables immediately after placing an order. The plants inside were visibly moving because of the wind. It was not a gentle breeze like when you sit outside but constant, unpleasant air current that you could feel even in the corners of the hall.
Food arrived really fast, but.. before drinks.
I order hot ginger tea, but I got a spoonful of sugary ginger-flavored syrup from a jar labeled "Ginger Tea" diluted in hot water, served in a cheapest-looking glass mug on a mismatched, two sizes too big, white saucer. I asked staff if it had sugar in it. Staff needed to go and check before they knew what they actually put on my table. I repeated that I ordered ginger tea, and there was no information anywhere on the menu that it would be sweetened. I got no "sorry", no "would you like something else to drink". Instead staff went on defense explaining that they hadn't added any sugar and it's just sweet because the stuff they make it from is sweet. I sent it back and thankfully didn't have to pay for it (although I said I wouldn't, who knows if they would try to charge me for it if I didn't)
I expected better for a restaurant that has less than a dozen reviews from 2 weeks only and actively advertises on social media.
Food is the only thing saving it from 1 star. I will give it another try in maybe 2-3 months, hopefully they sort out this...
Read moreFound this spot on Google and thought we would give it a try. We came for dinner on a cold night. Place is small and quaint. Two other parties there, so it wasn't too loud on a Tuesday. The menu prices are fair and good amount of entree selections. We decided to order mandu ( Korean dumplings) and budae jigae (army stew). The dumplings was good and had a decent amount of filling. The budae jigae was great. It was more than enough food for two people. The entree came with side dishes (bonchon) and the sides were ok. The kimchi was my least favorite. It did not seem like the kimchi was fermented long enough. The flavors just did not pop like I'm used to The jigae consisted of hotdogs, spam, ham, green onions, tofu, kimchi, ramen noodles, and a slide of cheese. The broth had good flavor, but I wished it would have a little more spice to it. Again, the kimchi was not my favorite, but still delivered good flavor to the broth. Get a bowl of rice and mix it in with all the stuff in the stew and with the broth! It's quite the mix! We also had some soju and local beers to drink while dining. It was a good experience and the...
Read moreI recently dined at Bab and had an exceptional experience. From the moment I walked in, the staff was incredibly welcoming and accommodating, making me feel right at home.
For my main course, I ordered the beef bulgogi and Yangnyeom chicken, and they did not disappoint. The beef bulgogi was tender and juicy, with just the right amount of sweetness from the marinade. The Yangnyeom chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, with a delightful spicy kick. The banchan served alongside the main courses further enhanced the dining experience. Their variety added depth to each bite, providing a delightful contrast of flavors and textures to the main dishes. From kimchi to pickled vegetables, each banchan was thoughtfully prepared and contributed to the overall enjoyment of the meal.
Overall, my experience at this Korean restaurant was top-notch. The food was delicious, the staff was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was just right. I would highly recommend Bab to anyone looking for a taste of authentic...
