I used to come here quite often, the coffee is nice, however the service became very bad, rude waiter. I had my laptop with me and he pointed out that if I want to sit I can't take comfortable table and have to sit chair next to the window. I pointed out that I want to have food and would like to have a table, abd fo not plan to work, just holding my laptop. Rudely he showed table in another room. He was also extremely rude when taking the order and bringing it. Very disappointing since this was one of my favourite places in the area.
As a bonus, the waiter came to me and asked if I left a comment and started saying that it is not correct to leave commentsand he took that personally, etc, to which I said that it is my right and that the fact that he came to me arguing is rude. He started saying something ,but I said that I’m not having this discussion. He left. Since I came I had a small talk to the guy at the table next to me and another waiter came to me and started arguing that I can't talk to their customers, and if I want to discuss anything I need to come to them. She was almost screaming and attracting attention of other customers. My chat at the next table said that everything is OK and we are talking, she left even without apologies for interrupting.
Apparently leaving comments and talking is not allowed at this place..
Very inconvenient and rude treatment...
Read moreSunday at 6pm, we call to reserve a table for 7 people within the next half an hour. They tell us they don't accept reservations with short notice but we could go as there is place enough. We walk 30' to get there, the place is almost full (2 tables available, 3/4 places each; 1 table able to sit 6 or more with only 2 people...). We ask if we can sit all around a 4 seats table : no; if we can join the 2 free tables : neither. We complain if they had arranged better other customers they'd allow us in as well, knowing we were coming, but hey repeat it is not their policy to reserve tables with a short notice and by chance all customers came in all of a sudden and took all tables. A part from the questionable strategy about reservation (if I'm walking to the place and arriving in the next few minutes, they don't keep a table for me; but if I reserve for the next week or month, they do, despite in that time I may forget it, change my mind or die...), I find this attitude is the perfect way to lose customers (not tourists, we all live in Prague).
(we ended up at Radiocafé which is 6 minutes walk down Vinohradská and were perfectly well welcomed there, and that's why this review is upgraded to 2 stars instead of the original 1; also we obviously de-starred La Bohème Café from our Google Maps and starred...
Read moreGreat Coffee, Terrible Hospitality
I was told that in Prague, when you were at a great local spot, the service will be terrible, and La Bohème Café was no exception. This statement does not negate the fact that their coffee is terrific. Their hospitality could uses some work. The wifi policy (as I was told) was one hour for one drink. My friend and I ordered four drinks and I only asked for one code. After that hour expired, and as I prepared to leave. I asked for another code so I could map out my return journey and answer some final text (since I am traveling I use wifi to communicate). The servers were not helpful at all! Adamantly telling me "no" (being inconsistent with their voiced wifi policy) and wouldn't even give me my friend's wifi code. What warranted this review was the blatant devaluing of a customer. This turned a joyful reunion with a friend, into an experience that left me frustrated, as I departed with a bitter taste in my mouth (that was not their delicious coffee). Tips: At this establishment, ask for a wifi code when you order a drink. They print it on a recipe and each customer gets their own one hour code. Other than that. . ....
