This was my first experience with Jordanian food , but I found myself nodding in approval with every mouthful at Bistro Habibi, as if I was sure that it was how it should taste . I started with hemp leaf soup.....How could a plant which is used to make sacks and rope have leaves which can make a soup that tastes this good ? One spoonful was enough to convince me that it really could . The tobbolah has the classic crunch of fresh parsley, but with the addition of pomegranate seeds here, it results in a sweet and sour sensation which really does taste as good as it looks . The humus, the best I have had , a velvety offering with a perfect amount of tahini. As soon as you walk in you feel the positive atmosphere , the sincere welcome, the caring , and the decor so different from the average middle Eastern restaurant here. It is almost homely , furnished in an eclectic style which really works . I enjoyed every second , and will definitely be back to 'work' my way through the menu....
Read moreWow, I've never tried Middle-Eastern cuisine (except for Turkish obviously), so I had no idea what to expect. I was a bit nervous, but when I took the first bite... It was probably the second best food I've eaten in my entire life (right after my mom's food of course). The mixture of ingredients was so unexpected, yet it worked in perfect symphony. Moreover, the owner is a kind gentleman, a very hospitable and polite man (I've heard before that Arabs are very hospitable and kind, and I am grateful to have experienced this first hand). I highly recommend visiting, it will probably change the way you experience restaurants in the future. Honestly, there were really no downsides. The portions are huge, I actually struggled to finish everything so as not to offend the owner :D Thank you very much sir, you are one of a kind and you made our day as well as the day of probably every other customer you've ever served. Kind...
Read moreThis place is run by a Jordanian, the nicest guy you'll ever meet. He makes you feel so much at home, and makes everything himself, from the bottom. We had to wait for a bit since he had a lot of customers at the time we were there, but it was definitely worth the wait. My girlfriend and I had some za'atar with cheese and veggies, and it was so tasty. Also, we got complimentary coffee and dessert, and got to meet a few other guests that were incredibly nice people and from all over the world. An immense and unique experience, and you need to go there if you are in the area. The place is located in a small "backyard" with several different small shops, among them a zero-waste store and a bar. In the summer there is live music on the small stage there every day. For your own sake, don't miss...
