I ate at the restaurant attached to Botel Matylda on the final eve of a holiday with friends. This was a delightful experience.
We ate on a floating terrace on the Vitala river. The sun was slowly setting throughout my meal - I wore prescription sunglasses during the starter but chose to change to contact lenses as the main course arrived due to the lowering light conditions.
The river lapped gently against the barge as we ate causing it to rock perceptibly but not something that would cause an issue unless this was a pre-existing condition a potential diner was aware of about themselves.
The service was friendly but slightly short: It was a nice restaurant and I sensed the waiter had us pegged as English lads abroad. This we were, but we had worked hard throughout our stay to dismantle this stereotype and we weren't to be deterred on our final eve!
As such, i ordered myself an Aperol Spritz whilst my dining partners opted for a red wine, 2 beers and 2 Fantas (between 6 people). These were delivered promptly and were served as expected.
At this point our food orders were taken. I ordered a Buratta with pesto and sun-dried tomatoes for starter and the Beef sirloin tagliatelle for main. I cannot recall exactly what each of my dining partners ordered but am aware that this included: Bruschetta, a selection of meats and cheeses (always pleases), and Beef tartare among others for starter and Pork Gnocchi and Spaghetti Ragu among others for main.
We were brought baskets of fresh bread several times to tide us over and these paired delightfully with the high quality olive oil and balsamic vinegar which were out on the table already. We were also brought a sizeable enough pot of parmesan to share between us at the table. I noted that the salt grinder on the table had pink (likely Himalayan) sea salt in and the pepper looked good quality too.
All of the food i indulged in here was delicious and fresh, a meal befitting of the final night of a lovely trip to a lovely place with lovely people.
Come here with someone special to you, you...
Read moreI personally visited the restaurant and not the rooms on one of my nights in Prague. Let me say the positive things first. It is a brilliant idea to have food and rooms on boats. The inside of the restaurant also was beautiful. It would be a very romantic experience for couples by the night as the restaurant's atmosphere along with the river by night is beautiful. The food was alright too. I must say the wines were the best part though from food and drinks. Our server was polite and helpful. Now to the things i don't particularly liked. While the atmosphere is beautiful and the servers are polite I couldn't help but feel it was all too fake and pretentious. I am usually not a rich people activities person. I prefer adventure and nature. So while in first glance everything looked nice something felt off. So me and the person who were there both felt the need to leave as soon as possible as if we were not welcomed there. And while nothing happened as in someone being rude it was more that human feeling other humans give us. So basically if you're one of those fake rich people this is the place for you. If you prefer a warm real...
Read moreI was a guest here for two (2) nights. The price was reasonable for the smallest room with a double bed at less than $100 USD. The room is small even comparing it with a room in Paris but remember this is a boat. The room and bathroom were clean. There are rooms on both converted barges. The unit where reception is located I believe has the larger rooms, I did not stay here. The send barge contains dining on the upper level and rooms on the lower level. After hours there is a RFID key fob to open the door to the hallway with the rooms then you use your room key. I was in room ( #1 ) on the barge with the dining. I would recommend if you are assigned a room here, you ask for a room at the opposite end of the hall. Above room ( #1 ) is the BAR, the Office and near the kitchen. Until the kitchen shuts down around 10pm there is a lot of overhead noise. After the restaurant closes down it will be quiet for the rest of the evening. They don't start serving breakfast until 8am so quiet time is from 10pm to 8am. I would stay here again because it's conveniently located and one of the tram stops is...
