We visited this café recently, and while the atmosphere was charming, our dining experience was a bit mixed. For starters, we had gyoza, takoyaki, and a wakame salad. Unfortunately, it was clear that these dishes were not homemade but rather pre-packaged frozen items. Taste-wise, they were okay, but nothing to write home about.
For the main course, we had soufflé pancakes, pudding, and two bowls of tantan ramen. The soufflé pancakes and the cat-shaped tapioca pudding were good, both beautifully presented. However, the ramen were disappointing. They tasted not homemade, rather like instant ramen with a yuzu/citrus note that just didn’t work and didn’t taste good at all.
We also ordered two beers and a yuzu goji tea. The beers arrived lukewarm, and unfortunately, my goji tea was forgotten, so I never received it. An extra minus point for the service since our drinks only arrived with the main course.
Even though we arrived at 11 am when the café had very few customers. The staff seemed either overwhelmed or very slow. All in all, I would recommend this café mainly for its aesthetic and interior design. However, the prices felt too high for the quality of the food. There's definitely room for improvement in terms of taste. Since we were just on a short trip to Prague, we won't be...
Read moreMy visit to Funwari Japanese Delight left much to be desired. First and foremost, their policy of not allowing customers to take away the cat pounding experience was a major letdown. Having experienced this in Dubai, I was surprised and disappointed by their refusal here. It's a simple request that adds to the novelty of the dining experience, yet they seem unwilling to accommodate.
Furthermore, the preparation time of 30 minutes for a pancake seems excessive, especially considering other establishments manage to serve similar items much quicker. This long wait detracted from the overall enjoyment of the meal.
The seating arrangement was uncomfortable, and the chairs appeared flimsy, adding to the discomfort. Additionally, the air conditioning seemed weak, making the atmosphere less than ideal, especially in a city like Dubai where comfort is paramount.
Overall, I cannot recommend Funwari Japanese Delight based on my experience. The combination of restrictive policies, long wait times, uncomfortable seating, and inadequate air conditioning made for a disappointing...
Read moreWe had such a wonderful lunch at Funwari! This place truly exceeded our expectations in both atmosphere and flavor. Starting with drinks, the Sake Nanbu Bijin and Umeshu were rich and balanced, setting the perfect tone.
The appetizers were fantastic – the Pork Gyoza were perfectly crispy with a savory filling, and the Chicken Karaage Teisyoku was juicy and seasoned just right, with sides that paired beautifully.
The Tantan Ramen was a standout, with a flavorful, hearty broth and perfectly cooked noodles – every spoonful was so satisfying. The desserts were just as impressive! The Mango Pancakes were light and fluffy, and the Neko Classic, Neko Matcha, and Sleep Bear desserts were not only adorable but delicious, with a balanced sweetness and authentic flavors.
To finish, the Sakura Cappuccino added a lovely floral note to a warm, comforting cappuccino.
Everything tasted authentic and thoughtfully prepared, making us excited to...
