Gate Restaurant + Gate restaurant by the sea — Restaurant in Prague

I used to be really happy with this restaurant service and food but the last two times have been really disappointing.

On the first one, I ordered the same dish I always do, mushroom risotto. However, it was missing cheese and salt, it was totally plain. I understand that sometimes mistakes happen so I let the waitress know. She told me that this risotto never has cheese and show it on the menu. While cheese is not specified, I could see that allergens have number (7) for milk so I asked her please to follow up with chef. She came back to me saying that indeed, she was wrong, it is supposed to have cheese but that the chef said, that he added it on my one. Basically, while I was being polite trying to solve a mistake for a tasteless dish I had paid for, she was using a strategy of 'blame the customer, we are doing all good here'. A better option would be "I am sorry to hear, let me take it and add some cheese for you". My wife and myself ended up paying for two dishes that we did not enjoy at all, very unpleasant experience.

On the second, we came on a Saturday night to have a couple of drinks and some snack. We were first offered a table in a nice and quiet area with our own table which seemed ok. We were waiting for some minutes before the waiter finally came. He didn't come to ask for our order but rather to move us to another table. He claimed that a family had a reservation and that this was going to be their table. If they really had a reservation, how they didn't take care of it before we were sat down there? I think it was just a way to make room to more people. We went to the table that was offered to us which basically was being shared with another couple. On top of that we were close to a very full and noisy table. Overall, not the place we were hoping to be in. After 15-20 min waiting the waiter had not come yet so we decided to leave.

While we are regular customers, after these two experiences we have decided not to come back in a while. I hope that this review will make management and staff in the restaurant take better care of...

Tap water is NOT free. On the price list is 24 czk per glass (33cl), but then when they bring the jug of 1l they make you pay 80 czk...the math is not their strength... Food could be better considering the price, however, on the door they also say it is 7% cheaper if you pay by cash. The chicken had dill on it, which was not grinded correctly, but I can more or less accept it if it wasn't for the disproportionate quantity of condiments for potatoes and soil in the salad... The service was not bad, but they take the plate and the box where there are napkins as soon as you finish without waiting for confirmation. I have pollen allergy and would have been nice to have a couple more napkin ready for use just in case. Atmosphere is average because we ate outside, probably inside is...

So it's 3 stars because we give 5 stars for the absolutely amazing food and 1 star for the absolutely abhorrent service!

We went there the first time and had the dumplings (devine) and a burger (tasty). Out waitress (a horrible blonde woman with long fake nails) gave me the stink eye when I wanted extra mayo and then was super unfriendly until we finally left.

We went a 2nd time because we really wanted the goulash, which sadly they didnt. Food was good again but this time there was no service at all. We had to wait a good 30 minutes to order and that only happened because another guest went in and had someone come out (3 waitresses were just chatting inside). Same thing when we wanted to pay.
