When I made the reservation through restu.cz I wrote in the comments which main course I wanted, the 'homemade potato gnocchi – smoked „salmon“ – creamy sauce – green peas – dill – lemon'. Not long after I received a phone call from the restaurant and they told me that the menu as listed on the website was outdated and that it was best if I would look at the menu in the restaurant itself. When I arrived I compared the menu's, and some of the courses had been somewhat modified, but not replaced entirely. The gnocchi were still there, but without the 'salmon'. The more I looked at the menu and the English translation, the more I got the idea that the English translation has issues in terms of completion and maybe also accuracy. I decided to go the safe route and order 'lasagne – homemade semolina pasta – tomatoes – red lentils – spinach'. At least, that's the description I just copied from the website, the description on the menu in the restaurant itself was slightly different. Enough blah-blah about the menu, now the experience: The lasagne arrived after exactly 14 minutes (ordered at 20.30 on a Friday evening). For a meal that requires quite a bit of oven time that's quite impressive. The vegan lasagne came with a topping that visually resembled cheese. Its layers were carefully constructed and clearly identifiable. Clever use of a very thick tomato sauce created a nice, moiste taste which made you forget the absence of dairy (milk and cheese). Definitely an inspired lasagne, one where considerable time was spent to mold it into perfection. The accompanying lettuce was simple, quite oily (not dry) and would have profited from a dressing with a more pronounced taste, but I can't say much bad about it otherwise. The wine I ordered was good, one from blue Portuguese grapes, and was served with a glass of tap water. It's always nice to see that there are still restaurants out there that know how wine should be served, bravo! 185 CZK (~7.50 EUR) for this dish is a rather low price. From the photo the quantity might seem small, but it was absolutely sufficient, because of the great care with which it was constructed, dense and rich in ingredients. Unfortunately they don't serve any desserts, which was a slight disappointment. But other than that I have nothing to complain. The level of English the waitress spoke was more than adequate and made a friendly impression on me. I will certainly visit again when I...
Read moreFood is good (grilled sweet potato) but the service does not equal the quality of the food. Expect long waiting times.
After we placed our order, 5 additional couples entered the restaurant. As we were starting with our appetizer (sweet potato fries), the first couple after us, did place their order, and then the other 4 tables also. As suddenly 2 of those tables received their burgers and food before us (even though they ordered far after us), I started wondering what is going on. Then the third table after us got their food... I stood up, walking to the counter, asking where our food is, while explaining, that 3 tables who ordered after us already received their food and we not. The young short lady was reacting harsh "food will come". No sorry, nothing. After that, the other 2 tables also got their food (5 tables who ordered their food, as we were eating our starter, got their food before us!). Then the Burger of my partner arrived. And I waited again for another 5 minutes, my food (grilled sweet potato) still not arrived. So I stood up, asking again at the counter for my food. She was really rude, pushing me the plate in the hand, saying "there you have your food". Never did I see such an unprofessional and rude behavior in a restaurant. In the end she said "sorry the kitchen was in stress" while I paid the bill (blaming others). Furthermore I got some stares from her colleague. Please train your staff (short young lady, and her female...
Read moreI recently dined at Pastva with my partner, and I have mixed feelings about the experience. First, let me praise the food; it was absolutely delicious. We had a mushroom pate for starters, followed by the soup of the day and stuffed pasties. The stuffed pasties were the highlight of our meal — savory, well-spiced, and satisfying.
The quality-to-price ratio is excellent; you're getting wonderful vegetarian dishes without breaking the bank, which is always a plus. I can confidently say that we'll probably come back to try more of their offerings.
That said, my experience was marred by a discrepancy about the kitchen's closing time. Upon arriving at 08:08 pm, we were informed that we had until 9 pm to place our orders. However, when we asked for extra bread at 20:43, we were told that the kitchen had already closed. It's a small issue, but important, especially since I enjoy having bread with pate.
In summary, Pastva offers great food at a great price point and service, but their communication need some work. We plan on returning, but it would be ideal if the restaurant could be more transparent about kitchen timings to avoid any such inconveniences...
