Die kleine Bierstube — Restaurant in Aarhus Municipality

Absolutely horrible. We went for dinner at 7:45. Greeted by the host/cook/waiter/owner? Sit down at a table with menus and the same guy comes by and then disappears... for 15 minutes. He attends the tables at the back but never comes to get our order. At 8:02 I get up and go to the kitchen and ask him if we can get service. (In German, turns out he is Bavarian just like me.) He says the kitchen closed at 8 o´clock. Says we should have made ourselves noticed to the bartender (who was about 3 meters away and could see us clearly waiting). I told him he saw us and even walked by our table and the menus were on the table, to which he didn't know what to say, except that the kitchen was closed now. 15 minutes waiting to then be told they will no longer take our order. (My partner had the impression he did it on puprose because he wanted to close for the eve. It barely contains anything except standard German cooking. No deserts either. The whole time we did get to watch foreigners of various nationalities get drunk and fall on the floor (at 8pm!!!) Clearly just a place to go to get some beer and consequently drunk. Very nice bar in the center of Aarhus focussing on German beer. They have a great selection - better than what you would find in many German bars - from the tab and also bottled. Among others I had a Schlenkerla Alder Wood beer - a true treasure! Having recently visited the Schlenkerla brewery together with the brewmaster I know how much work and craftsmanship goes into this beer. Great to see it being appreciated in a bar that celebrates German beer...

Place looks quite cozy. Music isn't playing too loud which is nice, however the same cannot be said about the people inside. And on top of that, they have some "game" where they hammer nails into a piece of wood. It's like being on a construction site. Service was also painfully slow, with only a poor girl at the bar alone on Saturday evening.
