We celebrated my mother's 89th birthday at this place because of its good reviews and very reasonable prices. We were very pleased with the quality and taste of the food, but had a terrible experience otherwise. It all started when I had to call 3-4 times just to make sure that the food would be served "family style" and not on individual plates. No one could speak Danish very well that I talked to, and no English. I ended up having to email the order instead (wish they had told me so to begin with).
When we arrived (12 of us), we were seated at a table that was MUCH, MUCH too small for that amount of people, JAMMED closely together on tiny chairs right next to the counter. If one person wanted to get out, at least one other had to get up too! No space for gifts or even our plates of food at times! We ourselves had to rearrange the plates and remove extra salt & pepper shakers, etc., just to have space to place the food, which the waitresses just handed to people at the end of each table, hurrying away! When we got there, we complained twice immediately about the visibly too small space for that many people. We were rejected twice in an increasingly angry and rude voice as we indicated our frustration (politely) about the situation. Instead of trying to accommodate and help us, the owner merely got angry and showed me how many bookings he had! Clearly, he was just trying to squeeze in as many people as possible. Exceptionally poor service throughout the evening. We were asked if we didn't know the place, then we could have just asked for roomier space in the back. I live in LA, so I don't know this place! Clearly, the burden should be on the restaurant personnel to think and ask about such issues when they get a reservation for 12 people. Greedy!
When we were to pay, we were billed for four more coffees than we had had. When I complained, the owner indicated that I was lying!!! He then, although he had said we would get it for free, added the price back for an extra soda. Clearly, this owner - not an ethnic Dane, which is OK - has learned the very worst of greedy, angry Danish society and has no idea what polite, respectful hosting means. My mother may never celebrate her birthday out on the town again, so this rude, inhospitable experience will stand with us for a long, long time.
Clearly not recommended but for the food. Expect rude service, esp. in the busy winter months. Restaurant owner: don't be so greedy! Learn to be nice. What goes around, comes around. You gave us all a VERY impression. You could have chosen to think for yourself that 12 people don't want to sit like...
Read moreAlways a must to visit in Aarhus for some hot soup or noodle during cold weather. Reasonable price and a lot of selection among Thai, Vietnam and Chinese dishes. Beef Pho is recommended here in both branches. One branch is closer to train station but smaller space. Another branch is about 5 to 10 minutes walking distance from smaller branch. It has bigger space and serves more varaties of food than smaller place. Durian shake is also available if you miss some durian taste while you are away from Asia. Hong Kong style roasted pork, though they call it fried ribs, is quite nice too. Portions are big. One dish is quite enough for one adult. So, please plan your order properly in case you could not finish them. Smaller branch is cheaper for some drinks. Although the taste is not totally se as what you get in Asia, it still tastes reasonably good though. Looking forward to visit again in...
Read moreTerrible, would not recommend this place for my worst enemy. I ordered a chicken phat kii, which was really tasteless but I spread a lot of siracha and than it was ok .. After eating 1/4 of the dish I noticed that the chicken was raw!!! I told the waiter and she did not seem to care, did not take my dish but offered me something else. I accepted a dish with no chicken. When we came to the cashier, I asked if I had to pay for the meal, she say yes of course, you got a new meal which you need to pay full price for. No discount or anything, full price for a dish which I did not want to eat. The cashier nor the boss cared that I got a RAW chicken in my dish, “you wanted a new dish, you...
