The name „42Raw“ suggests raw food. That's why we went in and why we were prepared to pay higher prices for cost-intensive high-quality raw food meals.
On the wall in their nicely designed room, they have a nice typography pointing out the philosophy of „food and drink served in the natural state“. We suspected that there might be a connection between this attractive statement and the way of preparing meals in their kitchen.
After ordering and paying, we decided to take a seat right at the front window to enjoy the nice view outside. We noticed that the table was obviously dirty with some crumbs and also sticky fruity particles. We waited for the service für 2-3 minutes, but noone noticed us waiting for someone to clean up. So we asked them directly. The service then asked us if it was ok to leave the sticky fruity particles as they were on the table, because otherwise he would have to get another wet wiping cloth. We were quite irritated by this reaction and finally decided just to have a seat and ignore the dirt.
Then my wife got her ordered sandwich, which was'nt labeled as „not seriously raw“ or commented by the service as „not seriously raw“. The sandwich was very nicely composed, but it had baken bread and roasted sunflowers in the bread. My wife talked with the service that she expected raw food. „We have only little raw food here“, the answer was. Well. No word of „Sorry“ or „Ok, let’s see how we can make you a happy guest, anyway“. „If you want raw bread, you have to pay for a new raw bread.“ She finally did it.
My Chai Latte wasn't raw either, which can of course be served purely raw. It was ok for me and tasted very good, but we simply expect transparent, honest and clear communication about what is raw and not raw. It can be marked on the menu boards or said by the service. It felt like they hat no idea about what this restaurant is supposed to do, or what expectation the name „42Raw“ my open in the...

As far as the food goes, I wouldn't say that there's really anything special going on. We had the vegetables bowl and the burgers. As you would expect, it's a vegan burger with a patty made out of vegetables, which tasted exactly as it sounds. The bowl of vegetables, was really simple and mostly comprised of inexpensive plain rice, some avocado, green soy beans, and a very basic sauce.
The food while tasted clean and organic*, at the same time it was lucking texture and it felt rather tasteless. It could be greatly improved by using more salt, extra acidity and maybe more spices but really whatever would greatly benefit the taste and would help bringing out the natural flavors. *Organic doesn't necessarily means ecological or healthier.
Price-wise, I would say it was fairly expensive given that most of the ingredients were common raw and/or barely processed products. For a bowl of vegetables, two burgers, a tiny portion of grilled sweet potatoes and three ginger lemonades we paid about DKK 700 which was a little under €100!
That's pretty much one of many examples of how expensive food can be in Copenhagen, but in general terms man that's expensive given that with that kind on money you can have a meal at a proper...
Read moreWas led to 42Raw via some intensive interweb surfing, and ultimately made my way in the door due to a gift card I received for my birthday a couple months ago. It seemed like a perfect compliment to a hot yoga class I took with a friend on Christianshavn, and so, off we went, post-sweaty yoga, to indulge in the raw food scene!
The food was, simply put, excellent. I ordered the lasagna, and was totally satisfied by the quantity, and the quality, of the meal. Dessert definitely sealed the deal though, particularly because I ordered it without even an ounce of guilt. Give me chocolate, and tell me its healthy, and we'll be best friends for life.
The scene is more cafe than restaurant, with a very fresh and clean vibe. They have a great selection of vegetable juices and fruit smoothies, as well as some a la cart options that can easily be ordered for a quick bite "on the go".
Walking out of 42Raw I felt pret-ty good about the healthy life decisions I was making for myself. Especially considering that directly across the street, the rest of CPH was gearing up for a wild Friday night of heavy boozing. All things in...
