The Royal Danish Theatre (Det Kongelige Teater) in Copenhagen is not only a beautiful landmark with its classical architecture, dome, and charming garden full of flowers, but also the perfect starting point for exploring the city. Just in front stands the impressive equestrian statue of King Christian IX, adding to the grandeur of the square.

From here begins Strøget, one of the longest pedestrian shopping streets in Europe. It’s a lively avenue where you can find everything from luxury boutiques and international brands to cozy Danish design shops, street performers, and plenty of cafés to relax in. The atmosphere is vibrant both day and night, making it a must-see for anyone visiting Copenhagen.

Along Strøget you’ll also come across interesting attractions, such as the Guinness World Records Museum, where you can see fascinating exhibits and life-size figures showcasing some of the most extraordinary records ever achieved. It’s a fun stop, especially if you’re exploring with family or friends.

All in all, starting your walk from the Royal Theatre and heading down Strøget gives you a wonderful mix of culture, shopping, and entertainment—one of the best ways to experience the heart...

The Royal Danish Theatre (RDT,Danish: Det Kongelige Teater) is both the national Danish performing arts institution and a name used to refer to its old purpose-built venue from 1874, located on Kongens Nytorv in Copenhagen. Inaugurated on December 18, 1748. The theatre was founded in 1748 at the initiative of King Frederick V, first serving as the theatre to him, and then as the theatre of the country. The theatre presents opera, the Royal Danish Ballet, multi-genre concerts, and drama. The architect of this beautiful monument was Vilhelm Dahlerup. It has been demolished and renovated several times, most notably the 1857 theatre and the 1874 one, for which a competition was held between the best architects in Denmark and the design by Ove Petersen was the winner. In front of the current building you can see the bronze statues of the playwrights Adam Oehlenschläger and Ludvig Holberg.
