I went to Kappo Andō with my husband and had the tasting menu with a few add-ons. I added the bluefin tuna, yakitori, and crispy grilled chicken, along with a cocktail, sake, and a beer.

Everything was amazing and full of flavor. The food tasted incredibly authentic, instantly taking me back to all the times my husband and I have traveled around Japan.

The atmosphere was also super nice and cozy. I loved how you sit at the table omakase-style, watching the chefs work their magic.

As for the food, it was absolutely delicious. My favorite dish was the last one "trout with rice" where every flavor blended perfectly. The yakitori was also outstanding, and I’d highly recommend adding it. The grilled flavor of the chicken was insane, unlike anything you’d find elsewhere. Plus, you get to see the chef prepare it on a real yakitori grill.

For drinks, I thoroughly enjoyed everything I had. My first cocktail, "The Rising Sun," was so good I could have drunk it nonstop. The combination of rhubarb and yuzu’s sweetness and sourness with the mild smokiness of the liquor was simply perfect. The sake I had was also excellent and paired beautifully with the food.

The staff was super friendly and welcoming, and we even had a few nice chats with the owner.

Remember to visit the bathroom for a nice surprise 😉

For fine dining and a Michelin-recommended restaurant, the price was actually very reasonable for what you got.

I would definitely recommend this place and might even come back for...

The restaurant is owned by a Japanese-Danish couple and all about Japanese cuisine. You sit around a counter and can watch the chefs prepare sashimi cuts or yakitori (skewers) at a traditional charcoal grill. The design is modern and clean, the room fairly dark so that the food and it's preparation are in the center of attention. The menu comprises of various small dishes, including four different types of yakitori skewers. Everything is freshly prepared right in front of you. Two drink pairings are offered - one with wine and sake, and another with a highball, beer and sake. Food was excellent, and very close to what we've had in Japan before. Clean flavors, great quality. Not your Westernized California roll, but authentic Japanese flavors and techniques such as fermentation. Service was very personal and professional. When we asked the owner for his local favorites, he came back with a hand-written list that he walked is through -...

Great and authentic Japanese experience!

My wife and I have over the years spend several months in Japan, and we just love the food and culture there. Kappo Ando successfully captures this essens and delivers delicious foods!

Sake, tofu, yakitori, sashimi, miso, yuzu, shitake, karage, meal sets, they have it all!

This is not fusion food, where Japanese dishes are translated into non-offensive European versions that taste like nothing. At Kappo Ando all the original Japanese flavours are maintained and you are transported right to Japan.

My favorite dishes were the yakitori and the tofu starter, but all the dishes were great. Would recommended!

The staff is professional and welcoming, the setting is modern and very Japanese, and the food is great.

I still have to find out what that movie poster for a tentacle monster movie was ...
