We paid for our sandwiches and sat down and then they told us they didn't have chicken salad or bacon. One of my friends didn't want any of the other sandwiches so got a refund and waited whilst we ate ours. Mine came on white bread when I asked for dark bread. It was quite hard to cut into the bread with my wobbly knife as it was rock solid. It was fine but we went here because of the high google rating which doesn't reflect our experience at all. The juice was nice.
In response to the comment from next door cafe: everyone in the cafe was very friendly and I'm 100% sure you would have changed the knife. However, we are tourists that were looking for a good sandwich for lunch and ultimately would have been much better off going somewhere else. I hope you can understand that we really just wanted to finish our food quickly and find somewhere our friend could eat. He waited for us to eat our food and then we went somewhere else where we waited for him to eat. It's just kind of awkward that we had ordered, paid, sat down and got our drinks when you realised you didn't have what we ordered and then also didn't have my friend's second choice, then you got my order wrong, then the sandwiches weren't even very good. Not terrible but probably ranked bottom out of the three or four we've had in Copenhagen. I'm sure you would have changed my sandwich to a salad but I didn't want a salad so this would not have achieved anything.
You had already apologised for not having the chicken, or the bacon and making the sandwich on the wrong bread so talking to you would have achieved nothing but further delay my friend's lunch.
Everyone in the cafe was friendly and the juice was nice but I just couldn't recommend this place to anyone looking for a good quick sandwich for lunch.
If you are focused on customer service as you say perhaps you could try marking things off on the board when they run out, as well as making your sandwiches look a bit more visually appealing and tastier.
The next door cafe certainly wasn't terrible and it wasn't a big deal but I would recommend the other cafes and restaurants we ate at in Copenhagen...
Read moreWelcome to your new home away from home! Next Door Cafe is all about the vibe - and it is on point here. The owners of this cafe have been in the cafe business for a long time and Next Door Cafe has been a staple in the Pisserend neighbourhood of Copenhagen for the past 12 years. Walking in to the cafe you will be greeted by either the owner or one of the lovely and attentive staff members. Don't expect gourmet food - but expect authentic, homemade dishes made with plenty of love and good, fresh ingredients.
This cafe has the best pancakes in all of Copenhagen, and the bread that is baked fresh every morning is simply amazing. Also make sure to try the breakfast sandwich, cheesecake brownies and peanut butter chocolate cookies (they are all amazing!!!).
The most amazing part about Next Door Cafe isn't the food, great coffee or the fresh pressed juices though, it's the vibe in the establishment and the amazing staff. The decor is cute and homey - everything about the cafe is adorable. The tables are full of old messages and greetings from former guests. On the walls you will find paintings of Frida Kahlo and the cafe´s regulars. In the corner a flamingo stands next to a buddhist shrine. When you order your food the staff will give you a plastic animal to keep track of your order which is the cutest thing ever and also great for families with kids! Dogs are also welcome at the cafe which is a big bonus in my book.
Everybody working here really tries their best to make you feel at home - and they do such a good job of it. After finishing your breakfast they will make sure to ask you how your breakfast was and to wish you a great day. When they have time for it they love chatting with the guests and getting to know regulars better. All of this comes together to create an atmosphere that you are sure to miss and want to come back to the...
Read moreWhat do you do when you meet with friends abroad ✈️? You won't believe it, but in our case, we mainly eat... 😅 I know some would only visit, go to museums, do cultural activities, but our lives are paced by our meals. 🤷 So, even for breakfast, we need a place where we can comfortably sit and talk, and a bakery 🥐 usually isn't enough. In Copenhagen 🇩🇰, I found on maps a spot called Next Door Cafe. And I picked it, not for its atmosphere (I'll talk about that later), but for the menu. It basically is the only spot that I found more or less affordable for brunch. In fact, DKK90 for a combo of pancakes 🥞, eggs 🍳 and bacon🥓 is almost cheap in CPH. Without being the best ever, the food was more than decent (especially the bacon was perfectly cooked to my taste), even though my eggs were overcooked. As I mentioned, I chose the place for the prices and the ratings on Maps, not for the decor, which I found... let's say... not fit for breakfast and more for a night party. 😅 Had I been alone with my family, not sure I would have enjoyed it, but with such a group of friends, that was almost funny. 😘 The service was good and the staff was laid back. The only hiccup was that we had to wait for a table as the place does not allow booking (at least online). In terms of quality / price ratio (at least), I'm convinced we found the best place for breakfast in CPH. 👍
