We booked our stay three months in advance and were very much looking forward to it. Two days ahead of our stay, we got an email saying that due to unforeseen circumstances, the hotel wanted to ”offer us” a stay at another hotel. Since the other hotel was rated 2.8 and we were planning to celebrate my wife’s birthday, I protested and asked to stay. The night before our planned arrival, we still hadn’t heard back from the hotel so I called the reception and got a verbal confirmation that yes, they now did have a room ready for us, for the following night. On our way over the next day, hours before our planned check in time, we received ANOTHER email though, replying to the email sent two days ago and saying that no sorry, they wouldn’t be able to get us a room that night after all. Long story short, after a few more emails the hotel magically found a room for us. When checking in though, the otherwise very kind and professional receptionist tried to charge us a higher price (approximately +10%) than what had been agreed in our booking. We, again, protested and ”the mistake” was corrected after I had shown the booking confirmation as proof of the agreed price. Entering our room, I was exhausted and spent ten minutes trying to get the coffee machine to work. It turned out, the socket didn’t work. When I plugged in the machine in another socket, there was a unpleasant smell coming from the machine and so I didn’t dare using it. I guess it hadn’t been used in quite a while. Entering the bathroom, I almost knocked my head into a spotlight, hanging in a cable from the ceiling. The combination of a hanging cable and the humidity you get in a bathroom, made us start thinking about how safe it was to use the bathroom at all. Reporting the problem(s) to the reception, they apologised but said that the maintenance guy had already gone home and that there was nothing they could do about it.

Before my arrival, I reached out to the hotel requesting two double beds, as this was one of the options available when booking the Design Deluxe Double room with king size bed on Hotels.com. I never received a response. When I checked in, I found a full-size bed instead. When I went back to reception to ask if this was the room I had booked, I was told it was—but it looked completely different from the photos online. The bathroom was also nothing like what I saw when booking. The listing lacked clear photos and accurate information about the different room layouts under the same name. The toilet had not been cleaned thoroughly, the trash can was broken, and the shower had no shampoo. I requested shampoo, but my request was ignored. The shower space was extremely tight, and the design was completely different from what was pictured—the bathroom unit overall was a total surprise, and not in a good way. The hotel promotes itself as offering a Danish design experience, but in reality, the building feels old and in need of major updates. If you truly want to experience Danish design, I’d recommend visiting a museum or other cultural spaces—not this hotel. Given that this property is more expensive than several nicer hotels in the same neighborhood, I would strongly advise against booking here. Don’t be bamboozled by the marketing photos and descriptions.

The lobby is nice and welcoming but I wasn’t impressed with the staff , especially during g checking out. No one asked us for feedback or how our stay was and the lady looked upset when I asked to be charged separately from my friend. The room was little but tidy and the bathroom clean with a nice shower and nice soaps. However, my friend and I we had a terrible night with only 2-3 hours of sleep due to the blasting music and party downstairs on the hotel’s /restaurant’s patio! I was shocked that it was even allowed - terribly loud music and people shouting at 1am while you mange a hotel where most of the guests want to sleep and you have apartments adjacent to the patio. So strange! The rooms don’t have AC and it was so hot that we were unable to sleep even with windows open. The most pleasant we’re staff at the restaurant- a lovely waitress who really knew how to provide top service. Nice food at the restaurant even with a bit limited choice during breakfast. Don’t be fooled getting a room on the garden side during weekends. You’re probably better off taking a room overlooking the main road. I’m not sure if Id recommend this hotel to a friend.

My wife Wendy and I stayed for 4 nights Friday 30th Sept to Tuesday 4th Oct 2022 Positives The hotel is in a good location convenient for Train and Metro Stations, Bars, Restaurants and Tourist attractions. The hotel reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were good and the restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable. The vintage furniture was attractive and as advertised. Negatives When we arrived in our room there was a strange and unpleasant smell. Not certain what it was we tried opening the windows which did not help much. We liked the room which was a good size and overlooked the main street at the front of the hotel and so did not complain, hoping that the smell would go. I noticed that the floor of the shower had a drain filter and grid removed which were lying next to the drain. I put the filter and grid into the drain and the smell reduced. When I later had a shower the smell disappeared completely. Maybe some cleaning chemicals had been put down the drain. The housekeeping staff had not made a good start. There were coffee making facilities but there were no coffee mugs in the room. I went to reception and got 2 mugs. The shower was very old with separate hot and cold taps. It was difficult to get a comfortable water temperature. The bathroom fixtures and fittings were generally a bit past it and could do with a refresh. We requested to have just one visit from housekeeping on the Sunday morning of our stay. On our return to the room on the Sunday the 2 coffee mugs had been removed, the coffee supplies had not been replenished and a spare toilet roll had not been put in the bathroom. I had to go to reception to get all the required items. The housekeeping staff had folded the bedding and emptied the bins. The WiFi was a bit hit and miss and often cut out and had to be reselected on my phone or tablet.

Overall a rather mixed experience. We paid about £200 (1650DKK) per night for a Superior Double Room and Breakfast. This seems typical for a good hotel in Copenhagen. I would have expected a few more positives and a few less negatives for the price...

I had booked at their sister hotel Christian IV, but then a few days before I was to arrive they emailed and said they canceled my booking and moved me to Hotel Alexandra. Location was not close to where I planned to be, but luckily location was still ok for what I had planned to do while I was in Copenhagen. I booked with Expedia which made it more confusing because they kept emailing me the wrong information. So I was nervous and very worried that I may not have a place to stay when I flew in to Copenhagen. I contacted both hotels to make sure that I indeed had a hotel room reserved for when I showed up. Greta, Alberte, and Aicha at Hotel Alexandra were excellent and helped confirm details with me. I met Aicha in person when I stayed at the hotel and she is the best!!! She is wonderful, so pleasant, friendly, patient, and professional. I was stressed before I arrived, and Aicha really made the stay so much nicer with her exceptional hospitality. I've been traveling for many decades around the world and Aicha stands out as one of the kindest, friendliest and most professional person that I have met. They upgraded us to the best suite decorated/inspired by a famous Danish furniture designer. The entire hotel is mid century modern. The hotel is in a great location with many restaurants, museums, and Tivoli amusement park that you can walk to. From the CPH airport you can buy a metro train ticket that takes you to Radhuspladsen metro stop and then it's about a 3 minute walk to the hotel. We took an Uber to the cruise terminal 7.8 km away. The hotel is next to a concert venue and the music is loud around 7pm-9pm. The Friday night that I was there I did hear music to around midnight or so and maybe that came from a bar nearby not sure. I could hear the music from the room but it was not too bad...they do have ear plugs in the room if you need it. Hotel is clean and they can store your luggage...
