This hotel's customer service was terrible , and they do not help you in any way to retrieve property you leave behind, so make sure you don't leave a single item in the room when you check out. I stayed at the Richmond Hotel from 9/12-13/12 for a short trip. I left 2 rings (total worth of 900£) on the right-side bedside table of my room, which I contacted the hotel about 30 minutes after my departure as I was rushing to the airport. The rings meant quite a lot to me and I was desperate to get it back - I had emailed and called the hotel to tell them I'd be willing to provide compensation. However, the first receptionist who answered my call was extremely unhelpful and made minimal effort in trying to find the rings, asking me to "call back tomorrow" - but by tomorrow there would have been new guests staying in the room. The solution to finding lost property is not by calling back the next day. The housekeeping staff was not contacted at all, nor did this receptionist make any effort in helping a customer find lost property. This was only 30 minutes after checking out of the hotel. I called back again in an hour, and the receptionist who answered my call was another person who personally went up to the room to personally check and see if there were any rings left, which he didn't find - and said he'd contact the manager to check lost and found. I am extremely certain I had left the rings on the bedside table that morning and their loss meant a great deal to me. I am not sure why they couldn't find it when they went up and checked the room as I am literally 100% confident that I had left them at the hotel, and the exact location in the room I had left it at. I called back again the next day in hopes a customer or housekeeping had turned them in, and the hotel said the rings were nowhere to be found, and the next customer had already checked in. The way this hotel dealt with my lost property was extremely inefficient - all the hotel had to do, or all the first receptionist could have done once I notified them about leaving my property in the room was to head up to the room, or notify/ask housekeeping to check the room as soon as possible as I had told them the exact location of the rings, and prior to the next guests' check-in the rings could have been retrieved. This loss meant a great deal to me and I am sure I'd never consider staying at this hotel the next time I...
Read moreWe (couple, 30s) have stayed in this hotel to see if the often stated ongoing renovation took place and to allow the hotel gain better reviews if improvement have been completed.
However we did not enjoyed the stay and i need to agree with all the bad reviews. Here is why:
Location: The hotel is about 700m from Copenhagen Central station and almost the same distance away from many tourist attractions like Tivoli or Radhuspladsen. It's also situated at a busy main road and next to the train tracks which may cause stressy noised of breaking trains.
Rooms: 1 room: We booked a "renovated small room" on a booking platform. We assumed to get a nice but small room. Our room was on the 6th floor. Renovation is still ongoing and floor 5 and 6 are a construction site. However the hotel book guests in some of the rooms which (according to the receptionist) have been finished improvements.
we were quite surprised to have a room in such a surrounding (see my pictures). However the room, we got wasn't renovated or renovated by a very suspicious company: Wall papers started to fall off Dust was thick and all around the walls a wardrobe had not doors and was totally scratched and dirty In the bathroom, chalk was all around, the mirror was close to fall off and the the room got flooded with every shower
2 room: We got a new room. The new room on the 3rd floor was renovated, more spacious and overall nice. However the balcony door was broken, so we accepted it staying open.
Balcony: Both rooms had balconies which are to share with all other guests on the same floor and building side
Service: We went back to the receptionist upon arrival. He said that he has been told that the rooms have been renovated. He seems been never in any of the rooms personally. Finally he stated that they do not sell renovated rooms, so we should not complain.
After showing our reservation statement, he apologize and offered a room change the following day. The change has been done to our satisfaction. However on checkout the hotel insists that we have been staying both times in renovated rooms.
Overall we would see the hotel as a nice and cheap way to explore copenhagen. We could accept the noise situation but offering renovated rooms that bad is really a no go. We will not stay in the...
Read moreI stayed in Richmond Hotel with my mum during our trip to Copenhagen in February 2020.
The most amazing thing about this hotel that I immediately want to point out - is their breakfast. Never in my life have I seen such a wide variety of breakfast options! There must have been at least a hundred different items available, including some very interesting foods that are not usually offered for breakfast, such as smoked salmon, veggie dumplings, cottage cheese and smoothie shots! Trust me, even if you are the pickiest eater, you will find something here for your taste. They were options there for different allergy sufferers too. The breakfast hall was very spacious and cozy, staff very helpful and professional. Brilliant!
We stayed in the room 510 on the fifth floor. The room was nicely decorated, very cozy and clean, it could be a bit bigger and could definitely be warmer. We stayed for four nights in February and I have to say the only way to keep myself warm was to wear two layers of clothes, including a thick jumper and woolen socks. There was a heater in the room and it was working, but the temperature just wasn't high enough! Maybe the windows weren't properly insulated, I'm not sure, but it needs to be at least a couple degrees warmer!
I liked the selection of complementary toiletries offered in the room. Hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, shower gel, shower cap, cotton buds, cotton pads, nail file, hair tie, earplugs, sewing kit and shoe shine. Very thoughtful.
The view wasn't the best. We were facing a grey dull building, and only if you come up close to the window and look to the right - there was a little bit of the city visible.
Mattresses and pillows were very soft. I found them comfortable and slept well.
Location was OK with the nearest metro station ten minutes away and the nearest grocery shop two minute away.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay in this hotel. I would recommend it during warmer months and would definitely recommend it to those who appreciates a...
