A TINY place with rather cramped seating – not just the 2-top we occupied, which was squeezed into a corner with absolutely zero space to move my chair. Cozy!

Service was young, friendly, and swift. We opted for the 5 shared courses, which seemed to be the best deal & we didn’t have to make any choices. We shared a reasonably priced Riesling and a decent Blauer Portugieser with our meal.

After the obligatory bread & olive oil (both good) the meal started off strong with a stunning mosaic of cured cod, leek emulsion and shiso, the fish subtle and tender.

Then the chef came out to explain the next dish: he had dehydrated, then rehydrated carrots, made a carrot sauce & served it all with heavy cream and habanero chili. It was a’ight. He probably coulda just poached the carrots to achieve a similar texture, and – while the habanero provided a pleasant tingle of heat in a cuisine that rarely provides it, I really don’t care for carrot sauce at all (once as a child staying over at a friend’s house, I poured a glass of that stuff & took a big swig, mistaking it for multivitamin juice of the same neon-bright orange color #traumatizedforlifeyo).

Next up: tartare, also very good. This had crispy rye bread and an abundance of radishes, which gave it a nice bite.

The fourth course was the ever-present and always welcome white asparagus – tis the season, after all. Two very al dente stalks with lovage blanquette and ramps.

It’s not a new trend to serve white asparagus barely cooked, and I don’t care for it. The sauces were tasty, however. Those Danes really know how to sauce things up deliciously.

We were pretty full at this point & had also miscounted the courses, thinking the ‘sparagi were the final one, but along came another plate: turbot, crispy sourdough, beluga lentils, and more cream. It was all good but we couldn’t finish the plate: cream overload.

All in all a very...

During my recent visit to Copenhagen, I had the pleasure of dining at Nr. 30, and it was an experience I won’t soon forget. From the moment I stepped inside, I was struck by the restaurant’s cozy, yet refined ambiance, where every detail—from the decor to the menu—spoke of a deep passion for creating a memorable dining experience.

What truly set the evening apart, however, was the outstanding service. I was fortunate to be attended by a young Argentinian gentleman whose warmth, attentiveness, and knowledge of both the menu and wine pairings made the evening truly exceptional. His genuine enthusiasm for ensuring that every guest enjoyed their time was evident throughout the meal. He had a knack for anticipating needs before they were expressed and went above and beyond to explain the intricacies of each dish, which added a layer of appreciation to the culinary delights.

The food, needless to say, was divine. Every course was a perfect balance of innovation and tradition, with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. But it was this personal, thoughtful service that made me feel less like a customer and more like a guest in a home. The Argentinian waiter made the dining experience feel special, offering recommendations and anecdotes with a friendly charm that’s hard to find.

In a city full of culinary options, Nr. 30 stands out not just for its food but for its exceptional staff, with special thanks to the Argentinian waiter who helped make the evening unforgettable. I can’t recommend it...

But what truly set Nr 30 Winebar apart was the impeccable service. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of my visit was nothing short of perfection. Food - delicious and decent sized portions. Wine recommendations - hit and miss. When I let staff know their recommendation was totally overwhelmed by the food, they suggested another which was better but left the first on the bill. No bread was given despite all other tables around getting bread, and no smiles either....no checking in “how is the food, how’s the wine”... A bit sad really, I wanted to love it. Would have stayed for dessert but a bit got tired of being ignored.
