After a day day of wandering around Copenhagen, and some shopping, we finally rested our legs at Original Coffee’s rooftop at Illum; exactly the kind of break a wanderer dreams of. The view up there is lovely: you can see the rooftops, the stretch of Strøget below, the bustle of Østergade, and in the distance even Christiansborg Palace. It gives you that quiet sense of being above the energy, yet in the heart of it all.
Owners and childhood friends Nikolaj and Philip started out in 2010, with a few coffee bikes (“Rolling Coffee”) and now have many coffee bars across Copenhagen, plus their own bakery supplying fresh pastries daily.
We enjoyed a delicious cinnamon scroll and a flat white on oat milk which was perfect. We also bought some of their beans to take home so our mornings afterward felt a little more like Copenhagen. The staff were warm, friendly, and helpful:)

Read moreGiven the wrong tea, when this was mentioned the staff denied an issue. For a black tea, there was an awful lot of green leaves in the bag... Coffee was over extracted, but also the entire experience was punctuated with the barista banging tins on the surface. I appreciate knocking down your milk, but if you have to do it 10 times per pour, it's because you've annihilated your milk. The staff obviously don't want to be there. It's also a bit cheeky to refuse a phone charger when using an array of devices that all charge off phone charger...
