Very disappointed in the service. First off, our tour from Ved Stranden was changed to Nyhavn since the water level was too high, but there was no notice until we checked in at the ticket booth. The attendant there was helpful and changed our ticket to the next scheduled tour so we had time to walk over (10-15min). But by the time we arrived at Nyhavn's dock, they told us the boarding location had changed, and by then we had missed our tour. The attendant was extremely rude, instead of apologizing for the inconvenience, she berated us for being late and initially didn't want to renew our ticket for the next tour. When she reluctantly did, I asked for directions to the dock, she just said "behind the bridge, you will see it" and repeated herself when I asked for clarification. Stromma had a flag at the end of the port, which one would assume was where we boarded, especially with 2 of their boats parked there and a small group was lining up already. Little did we know that that was also not the right boarding location either. We watched as the boats left on our scheduled time. All of us flustered walked back to the ticket booth to get our tickets renewed for the next available tour, which was 1 hour later. Sure they changed our tickets, but the attitude was very demeaning. This updated loading dock was a discreet stairway that can be easily missed as it's at the intersection of a busy road. The tour itself was pleasant, the guide was entertaining. Though if you're seated in the middle, the window-seat person's head will forever be blocking you. (This applies to colder months where the boat has a plastic ceiling, warm but view-obstructing). Not their fault, but we didn't get to go through the canals since the water level was too high, so that was also disappointing. Just my...
Read moreI took canal tour solely without taking bus tour, so I found everything was smooth: Order and pay online then go to the directed station listed in printed ticket. Then the officer will exchange ticket with receipt, and tell when the boat will depart. Soon before I board, boat's guide will tear the receipt and welcomed me on board... So easy.
And my experience? I think this canal tour has been developed more interesting than Dutch's Amsterdam canal cruise tours. Main differences are: This tour always use open boat in Apr-Sep, so we must prepare for the wind. But it was fun. Compared with Dutch's: Sometimes the boat is opened, sometimes closed, we may not know what package did we buy. Commentary/guide: This tour still use human guide, while Dutch uses audio guide (with many repetitive comments). The bridge: Danish tour will cross under many low bridges and since this is an open boat everyone must be careful. The boat sometimes slows down to enable all passengers to take photo of some attractions.
Tips: If possible, take the tour which is presented in only one language. Sometimes this tour is available in bilingual (Danish+English) and this may disturb the experience of listening to the guide. Take the left or right furthermost seat to enable good photo-taking position. Wear jacket with hood: we never know when it rains, we never know when the...
Read moreSuper disapointing! - Take another boat! 9 of april 2017 I was with my well travelled family from Phillipines who as I have been on canal torus in many cities. We all expected the guide to tell about Copenhagen and our culture, but there was nearly no information. Just names of some of the places we passed. I asked her to tell a bit more so we could understand fx where the queen lives and that she is home when the flag is up, - but only got the name of the palace! As well the Marbel church with big dome wasent mentioned. Passing Christianborg she didnt tell it was our parliament and under it have ruins from first borg. Nothing about the painting at Thorvaldsens museum and the story it tells. - An I could go on and on with things not mentioned that explains about Copenhagen history and culture. I know from when I have used the Netto bådende that leaves 50m from this, but was closed. I felt sorry as my family only had 3 days in Cophagen and I told I really like canaltours.. but this was totally...
