I recently had the misfortune of dining at what was advertised as a "quintessential" Danish restaurant, and I can confidently say it was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had.
First, the atmosphere felt incredibly forced. Instead of a cozy, rustic Danish setting, the décor seemed like a cheap imitation, more akin to a tourist trap than an authentic establishment. The furniture was uncomfortable, and the overall ambiance lacked any real charm or warmth. It was as if the designers had never even set foot in Denmark.
Then came the food – or should I say, the disaster. What was promised as a traditional Danish meal was a bland, poorly executed mess. The smørrebrød, a classic Danish open-faced sandwich, was soggy and tasteless. The bread, which should have been hearty and fresh, tasted like it had been sitting out for days. The toppings were meager, and the ingredients lacked any flavor. I’ve had better sandwiches at a gas station.
As for the mains, the "Frikadeller" (meatballs) were overcooked and dry, with no seasoning to speak of. It felt like they had been reheated in a microwave, which is unacceptable for a dish that should be a staple of any self-respecting Danish kitchen. The sides were equally disappointing – the boiled potatoes were bland, and the pickled vegetables were so sour and unbalanced that they were inedible.
To make matters worse, the service was abysmal. The staff seemed indifferent, barely acknowledging our presence. Our waiter was unhelpful and appeared disinterested in providing even the most basic level of service. It took an eternity for our food to arrive, and when it finally did, it was cold.
For a place that prides itself on being a “true taste of Denmark,” this restaurant failed on every front. It felt like a lazy attempt to capitalize on Danish cuisine without any respect or understanding of the culture or the food itself. Save your money and your appetite – you’re better off eating...
Read moreExcellent spot to grab a bite, a drink or both in Copenhagen. Visited the city for the weekend and looked for a nice spot in the city centre to have a light dinner with my gf. Booked in person while strolling the city in the morning, went to sit around 8pm. Service was kinda slow since 3 people were running the place (which isn't very big) but they were very polite and asked for patience - no reason to get upset. Got the mix charcuterie board with cheese too, the porchetta (Saturday dish), a salad with shrimp and white asparagus and later the dessert that was The food was all great, high quality ingredients, well cooked, with the board being a clear highlight. The waiter let us try a couple of wines before deciding what to have - good selection and again, even better service. Atmosphere was nice, little decorations made the place feel cosy. Definitely recommend to anyone visiting - or to the lucky ones living...
Read moreVery nice and cozy atmosphere. The place is not super big, so be aware if you’re coming for dinner. However, I came mid day and did not find any trouble sitting down. I got one of the vi-dagens sandwiches, which was a sandwich decided by them. It was very delicious. Be mindful that this place does not have many options on the menu, so check out the menu online before coming if you are picky. However, if you’re open-minded just show up and order what they have, you...
