Our group wanted to enjoy some wine after a long day. We were seated and asked what kind of wine we do like. No menus, where you can check the selection and prices. The waiter (a lady) brought us samples of 2 different wines, both of them were not tasty at all. Then she brought a third sample - still not my favorite, but we decided to give it a try. I don't know, if she brought something that it was in the open bottle at the moment, but it definitely didn't match the description we told her. After that she told us the price for a bottle, which was 550 DKK....I mean, this is simply too much and also can not be trusted since there is no menu to verify it. It was an Austrian wine, which are generally pretty cheap and the quality of it was definitely NOT worth the money. We decided to buy only glasses of this extra expensive wine, which was 110 DKK/glass. After she poured the wine into our glasses, she informed us that they are closing at 22:00. It was 21:43...So we rushed to drink it and at 21:55, another waiter (a male) came to our table to give us the bill and tell us we need to leave as they are closing. I would like to mention that there were 2 more tables full of people and when we left and were strolling near the harbor, those people were still sitting there. This is just not nice behavior toward the customer. Also, I would expect that the toilets would look a lot different in a wine bar which offers such expensive wines. It was just disgusting, dirty and smelly with water (let's hope!) all over the place. I would advice all to avoid this...
Read more5 stars on my 1st 2 visits. 2 stars for my most recent visit on Nov5, an hour before closing. Nice BTG natty wine options, but it can be rather tedious when you have to ask prices for each glass. That’s not the reason for 2 stars. The tall male staff was super accommodating and friendly. He even switched our normal glasses to beautiful Zalto ones. On the other hand, the Aussie lady working the bar the other day was dismissive or irked by my question on prices of wine recommended. Her response to my question “So, what have you got opened today?“ was returned with “I can’t list everything opened.” Cantina Isola (Milan) has multiple wine bottles opened. That’s the kind of place where “everything open can’t be listed.” Not Ved Stranden. Surely, as a wine professional, you can at least say “anything from light to full from anywhere from France to Austria.. a bunch of gamay and chards today” …Something along that line. Simple yet indicative of attempts to help a customer decide. I’m happy to go through the fridge for them to save the effort, but…. She also kept pushing the sale of water. I’m good. I don’t need water for a quick 2 glasses of wine for night cap I was quoted one price, but I was charged a higher price when the bill came. It might’ve been an honest mistake, but my friend and I were doubting it given she didn’t look up when I was addressing the price discrepancy. In any event, I wouldn’t recommend ordering from this female staff. Please hire people like the other...
Read moreAfter a full day of wandering around Copenhagen in early September, we were really looking forward to visiting Ved Stranden 10.
Set along the water in the city’s historic centre, this wine bar has that relaxed Copenhagen charm that makes you want to stay a little longer. The canal views, and gentle buzz of conversation create an easy, inviting atmosphere. Inside, it’s simple and stylish, with bottles lining the walls and people enjoying great wine without any fuss.
We grabbed a seat by the window, ordered a few snacks to share, and sipped on some excellent natural wines by the glass. The selection changes often and focuses on small, thoughtful producers. The staff were genuinely lovely and guided us with great recommendations; every pour was spot on!
Ved Stranden 10 has a laid back confidence that comes from people who really know and love wine. It’s unpretentious, welcoming, and just a beautiful place to unwind by the water. If you love wine, it’s a must visit...
