Terrible dining experience! 🤮 We waited for a painstaking 45 minutes before our order was finally served, and even then, it was a series of disappointments:
To begin with, they brought us the wrong drinks.
The table right beside us received their order within a mere 15 minutes, leaving us wondering what went wrong with ours.
Believe it or not, the table behind us, which arrived a good 20 minutes after us, had their food served before ours.
Now, let's talk about the actual food. The curry plate we ordered turned out to be a sad excuse for a meal. The chicken was submerged in a pool of sauce, making it lose all its crispiness and turn completely soggy. It looked like something out of a prison cafeteria (and I dare say Copenhagen's jail food might even be more appealing). To make matters worse, the sauce tasted like a weak concoction of yellow curry powder mixed with water.
As for the chicken prawn soba, it lacked any discernible taste. We left more than half of the dish untouched, consuming only enough to stave off our hunger before setting off in search of decent food.
The only redeeming aspect of the meal was the gyoza, which were the sole item that managed to meet our expectations. Considering our dreadful experience, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this place to anyone. On a side note, I couldn't help but feel sorry for the staff who appeared to be severely...
Read moreSo I wanted to take my travelling partner to Wagamama's for her first time (I've been to many through the years, including this one). I like the food and the concept of serving the dishes as they leave the kitchen steaming hot, as well as the communal tables and the hustle and bustle. In short, I'm a Wagamama fanboi.
A huge plus for this restaurant is a separate vegan section in the menu. It makes life so much easier when you don't have to ask the server, which often puts them in the awkward position of having to answer questions they often don't know the answers to.
My dish, a katsy curry with sweet potatoes, was excellent. Steaming hot, perfecly spiced and with that lovely contrast of the deep fried vegetables and the curry sauce. The portion was also very generous, and on its own this would rate five stars for me.
But after I got my food, the service just... disappeared. We had ordered gyoza as our starter and could see our plates getting cold in the distance. When they finally arrived, the food was luke warm.
My partner's main did not arrive until long after I was finished. Again, I'm all for the serve the food as it is done concept, but when it falls on it face the whole dinner experience goes out the window. Two points off for this, and another one off for the...
Read moreYesterday was a busy day at Tivoli.
We noticed that Wagamama had a fairly spacious seating area and wasn’t too crowded, plus the food is usually good—so we decided to have an early dinner there. I was with two other adults and three kids (a baby and two school-aged children). Despite the restaurant not being busy, it took quite a while before anyone approached us. One of the older kids in our group was upset and crying, while their mom was comforting them. When a waitress finally came over and asked how many we were, she looked at us, visibly rolled her eyes, and told us the child needed to stop crying before we could be seated. 😳 I also asked for a high chair, and she seemed irritated by the request. Her attitude was the reason we decided to leave. The way she interacted with us felt rude, unwelcoming, and frankly inappropriate—especially in a family-friendly setting.
I’ve worked in hospitality myself, so I understand that everyone can have a rough day. But it’s not the guests’ responsibility to carry the weight of it. If you’re unable to offer basic courtesy or patience—especially with families—it’s better to take a moment and regroup before dealing with customers.
It’s been a long time since I’ve had such a...
