I stayed at the Ansgar hotel while I was attending an academic conference for five nights. In general, the room was nice, clean and the service was extraordinary---all of the staff were very friendly. There is even a small courtyard surrounded by the hotel that is very nice to sit in.

Breakfast offerings each morning were also good, although they were a bit inconsistent on having my favorite kind of danish pastries.

Finally, by two biggest complaints: the shower and the Internet. The shower was awful. There was no lip or ledge to keep the water from running out all over the bathroom, which made the floor completely drenched. Maybe the style of the shower is par for the course in this part of the world, but nonetheless, it was extremely inconvenient.

And the Internet was just plain awful. We sometimes observed 90% packet loss. Web pages would not load unless they were refreshed several times. We tried accessing the Internet from different parts of the hotel (where we had an excellent connection in each spot) with different computers (and operating systems), and we had the same results. It was incredibly frustrating.

Having a decent Internet connection is pretty important to me, so it'd probably prevent me from choosing this place in the future. (I could deal with the shower give the benefits of the hotel.) So I'd recommend it to others based on one criterion: how important is an...

A lovely hotel located near to Copenhagen’s central station so ideal for hopping onto the Metro or overground train with only a couple of minutes walking. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and easily accommodated a family of four (2 adults and 2 pre-teen children). Unusually for a lot of hotels we looked at the children’s beds were both the same size. The beds were comfortable. The hotel had a lift which was helpful when transporting our luggage to and from our room upon arrival and departure. Breakfast was served from 7am until 10.30am (11.00am at weekends). There was a good selection, including eggs (soft and hard boiled and scrambled) bacon, sausages. Fresh pancakes (with Nutella, maple syrup). Cereals (cornflakes, oats, muesli). A selection of yogurts (fat free, natural, flavoured etc) and Milk (cows, almond, oat). Coffee (filtered, macchiato, latte, cappuccino) and fruit juices (apple, oranges and exotic). Fresh, warm bread (loaves and rolls). Danish pastries (pecan twist, cinnamon swirls, etc). Cold meats, cheeses (Brie, cheddar), fruit (apples, pears, kiwis, grapefruit, oranges) and vegetables (celery, carrots, tomatoes).

Highly recommended hotel for anyone...

First thing first. This hotel did not have an a/c, just a window. We went in June and is was on the hotter side so we sweated. But besides that this hotel was amazing. Not only are you a measly 3 blocks away from the train station, you are also near tivoli gardens. The breakfast buffet was amazing. They had eggs, both scrambled and hard/soft boiled. Meats, fruits, danishes, croissants and more. Definitely worth the price. Interestly enough, they had an iPad that dispensed the drinks. At the coffee area they had a choice of americano, caffe latte, espresso. At the juice station they had apple, orange, and water. If you wish to go to Nyhavn then bus 1a is right around the corner and is only a 15min bus ride. Near the hotel itself is a plethora of restaurants. The ride from the airport to the hotel was approximately 220kkr.

We stayed here during our holidays in Copenhagen for 3 nights. Needless to say that the location is bomb, you have all types of transport Metro 1 min away, Copenhagen’s Central Station is less than 5 min away. The hotel itself is kind of old and I believe it should be renovated. The rooms were ok for the price 2104 DKK (300€). They weren’t really spacious but enough for 3 girls. We had an issue the first night with the bathrooms door but we fixed it. The bathroom’s fan was really loud and didn’t work really well. The room doesn’t come with a fridge but you don’t need it because you can put the groceries in the window as we did. The lady that assisted us spoke Spanish and was really friendly and helpful. Would repeat for the location but not for the rooms.
