I rarely write reviews, but this experience was so disappointing that I feel compelled to share. Long story short: I waited more than an hour for a microwaved burrito.
We visited this Mexican restaurant, which is supposedly open until 12 AM. We were seated at 9:30 PM, ordered within 10 minutes, and received our appetizers at 10:02 PM. After 35 minutes of waiting for our main courses (35 minutes after the arrival of our appetizers) with no sign of our waitress anywhere, we finally managed to flag her down to check on our food.
Her response? Unbelievably rude and dismissive. She gave us attitude and told us that because we ordered a fish burrito, it naturally takes a long time to cook—implying that we should’ve expected the delay. Then came the most shocking part: she casually mentioned that the kitchen closes at 10 PM—something we were never informed of when we sat down or placed our order (which, by the way, was before 10 PM!). She made it sound like the kitchen was doing us a favor by even preparing our food. No apology, no explanation, just an annoyed tone as if we were an inconvenience.
After more than an hour, our food finally arrived. Given the wait, we expected something freshly prepared. Instead, what we got was clearly microwaved:
•The plates were scorching hot (a telltale sign of a microwave). •The rice was old and dry. •The sauce had a crust on top, which only happens when something is reheated and left sitting. At this point, we had lost our appetite. We barely touched our plates. When we tried to cancel the desserts (which were part of the menu option we ordered), we were told we couldn’t. What stood out even more was that the waitress didn’t even ask why our food was barely eaten—no concern, no attempt to check if everything was okay…. Either she is used to people being unhappy with the food, or she simply has no understanding of hospitality.
To top it all off, basic service elements were completely neglected. We had to ask for our water to be refilled on a super super super slow Wednesday night (it was us and 2 other tables), and the waitress seemed grumpy and dissatisfied with her job the entire time.
Overall, this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. Poor service, bad attitude, excessive wait time, and microwaved food. If the kitchen closes at 10 PM, customers should be informed before ordering. And if a restaurant is open until 12 AM, that should mean the kitchen is actually functional. I have never waited more than an hour for a microwaved burrito. Nevertheless, my intention in writing this review is not merely to complain about the food, but to express my deep disappointment with the lack of hospitality I experienced, especially because I also work in...
Read moreWhen I need a Mexican food fix and don't feel like cooking, La Fiesta Mexicana is my go-to in Copenhagen. This is not necessarily because it's the best Mexican food on earth. That, my friends, it certainly is not. BUT, it scratches the Tex-Mex itch just fine when you know, deep in your heart, that you probably aren't going to find better anywhere else in the city (or, let's face it, within a 500 mile radius of CPH). For lack of a better description, it's an excellent representation of what a Dane might think Mexican food should taste like: not far off, but naturally, still missing some essentials (hence the four stars, instead of five).
They put some strange chili powder on their chips (it's not bad, but it's not something you'd ever see in Mexico), but otherwise they are homemade, and the guac is legit. They have a pretty good deal on a bottomless fajita/taco meal (to be shared with 2 or more), so if you're hungry, it's a great option that pleases the masses.
Otherwise, the menu is enormous, and they serve Mexican beer (at a very high mark up). On the weekends there...
Read moreI was impressed with the quesadilla starter it was delicious with a tasty little bowl of guacamole and mince that just melted in the mouth. I wish I'd had it as the main though as even though the enchilada I did have has was down right tasty it was a bit soggy and sad sitting in a pool of its own tasty juices. The sangria was pleasant but nothing to write home about. The staff were friendly and working hard. Four stars not five though for the enchilada and seating us right by the kitchen when the restaurant was only 1/3 full (partly my fault as I should have asked to...
