Truly the worst food I’ve had in as long as I can remember. I’m so surprised. Everything we’ve had in DR has been so delicious. Punta Cana and La Romana had great food. I wouldn’t write off DR or the food in this country, but this meal is honestly the worst flavored and overall food I’ve had. Probably ever. For real. We have some trash food in USA, but even cancer-producing fast food places are so much better tasting.
The food this evening all tasted the same. The fried foods really didn’t have much flavor other than the oil it was deep fried in. The platano tasted like cardboard. The mofongitos tasted like oil. The cheeseballs were just embarrassing frozen food out of a bag.
But now to the real gem of the meal - the mahi mahi was the driest, most poorly prepared fish I may have ever had. I would much rather have tuna out of a can. I love fish. I catch fish. I prepare and cook fish. This fish was tough, dry (see pics) and it had such a disgusting fishy flavor. It was a terrible example of mahi mahi. It tasted like rotten frozen tilapia. For real - long john silvers makes much better fish. And their fish is as close to mutant fish as one may ever find. But this mahi mahi was an honest abomination. I NEVER leave food on my plate, but I ate several bites of this food and decided to end the meal. Worst meal ever. Not drama. Truth. If you don’t believe me, go get the dorado don Luis and then get ready to call your priest.

I don’t like leaving bad reviews. Sometimes, people just have a bad day. Everyone makes mistakes. But this food was so terrible, I decided to attempt to save some others. You’ll never know food could be so awful, so it may be worth it to go try this place. It completely redefines what bad food is for me. I wish I had just not eaten. I would have preferred a partially eaten potato chip out of a...
Read moreBlack customers beware! I had a poor experience at this establishment. Went in with a group of four to get a quick bite to eat. We ordered chicken sandwiches and fries. They got our order wrong, giving us sandwiches without bacon, mind you it is listed on the menu as a part of the sandwich--not add on. It was not a big deal whatsoever, we just wanted it brought out to us so we can put it on ourselves. As a matter of fact, I checked my sandwich right away and realized it was missing so all he had to do was go back and get it. However, when tried to tell the server he was was extremely rude and dismissive. When we told him we were missing bacon on our sandwich he threw his hands toward the condiments on the table and told us to use them instead and started to walk away! We reiterated that we needed bacon, and before it could go any further one of her superiors came over after overhearing the back and forth and told him "What are you doing? Fix your attitude." after directing him to go get the bacon. Without getting too political, I have to add that colorism is a major issue in the Dominican Republic (and majority of the world). Although this server and the majority of the staff were dark skin; we were the only all black table of patrons and it was obvious that this server was discriminatory. He blatantly ignored our gestures for his attention and immediately ran to the white customer directly behind us when he called him over. Because of this, we refused to tip and spoke to the supervisor. They were apologetic, removed the tip, and offered us free desserts. I am glad it was handled but there is nothing worse than unnecessary hostility and rudeness from servers, especially when the problem so simple. The food was okay at best and for that reason alone we would not return. Also, there was no language barrier, as one of us is a native...
Read moreD Luis Parrilla is a hidden gem of a restaurant located in Santo Domingo that is well worth a visit. From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the inviting atmosphere and the delicious smells wafting from the kitchen. The menu features a variety of grilled meats, seafood, and traditional Dominican dishes, all cooked to perfection over an open flame.
I was impressed with the prices, which were very reasonable for the quality of food and service offered. The portions were generous, and the flavors were out of this world. The meats were succulent and perfectly seasoned, while the sides and sauces complemented them beautifully.
The service at D Luis Parrilla was impeccable, with a friendly and knowledgeable staff that made me feel right at home. The ambiance was also fantastic, with a cozy and rustic decor that added to the overall experience.
I highly recommend D Luis Parrilla to anyone in Santo Domingo looking for an authentic and delicious meal. The quality of the food, service, and ambiance make it a must-visit destination for any food lover. I will certainly be returning to this restaurant on my next visit to...
