Segundo Muelle — Restaurant in Mariscal Sucre

I was rather very disappointed. The last time I visited a Segundo Muelle restaurant was in Panamá 10 years ago. I was told the quality was lowered, I can only confirm that. We had the ceviche three ways, which was more or less ok, some of the sauces made sense although the traditional one was too cold. Then we went for crab causa, we couldn't eat it; the potato had a strange flavor and the crab was coarse and I wondered whether it was fresh. In the end that put us out and we couldn't eat more. The attention was great, undeniably but it couldn't make up for the average to below food. My expectations for Segundo Muelle were very high, granted, but now I know what to expect in the future if I ever...

We had a delightful dinner at SM. Everything was excellent. To start with, the apps were amazing. The two salsas accompanying the plantain chips were the star of the show. Very different but impactful on the palate for things to come. Some pepper heat as well as some garlic. Dinner was two different ceviches that were both prepared perfectly and were quite unique. Good citrus balance! The house speciality pisco (not piano, auto correct!) sours were perfect. Also, the service was great, as was the joint itself....

The 3 stars is for the food only, ordered 3 dishes, all too salty especially the ceviche muelle , which was very disappointing. I've never had a salty ceviche even in cheap restaurants. It's a Peruvian restaurant so how can you ruin the ceviche The seafood was fresh but ruined by poor seasoning. Maybe my palette doesn't like as much salt as...
