This spot is a real gem. First, please consider staying on West Bank if you want to avoid the circus on the East Side. One advantage is that you can head straight to Valley of the Kings first thing in the morning and possibly be the only visitor in the first couple of tombs you visit. Absolutely worth an early wake up call. ||The hotel is simple and cozy, clean with hot showers. I loved my balcony and the rooftop restaurant (great Egyptian food). I slept soundly each night. It is very close to the public ferry or motor boats to get across the river. ||Above all, the staff here are just excellent. I stayed for only four nights and got to know all of them by name. They treated me like family when I was in the hotel. They also helped me navigate luxor with taxis and arrange a tour further afield to Abydos and Dendera. Read moreWe stayed at Gezira for our trip to Luxor. It’s a sanctuary of peace and kindness in the middle of all the hustling from the city. We even got a nice drink at arrival! The decoration of the room is a little outdated but everything you need is there and spotlessly clean.
On top of the hotel there is a beautiful restaurant with very kind staff. The quality of the food not so good unfortunately, this is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. Everything baked or fried is drained with fat which makes it hard to eat. We tried other traditional Egyptian restaurants where the food was much better.
The one thing standing out was the service of the entire hotel. Everyone was so so kind and willing to help. The people at the reception helped us with getting a driver, guide and nile trip. This was all perfectly arranged with again very kind people! No annoying hustling and all honest hard working...
