Good place, nicely decorated with a view over the nile. The service is ok and fairly fast vs the slow Egyptian standard. The food was good, tasty, same as the drinks.
Now, 3 stars out of 5, because at the end of the meal, I'm being asked to pay 140 EGP without any explanation nor bill, instead of 105 EGP. I then want to have a chat with the owner about it, and his only answer is that "In France, for this price, about 7€, you can barely have a sandwich, so I think it's still a very good price for you".
Where in the world can you say that? And furthermore, it's false, because sandwiches starts at 2-3€ in France... Then let's have a drink at 2€ instead of 20 EGP (1€), will still be cheaper than France so it works. Let's have a meal at 8€ instead of 50 EGP (2,5€), will still be cheaper than France, so it works. You know what I mean? How can you justify and compare a rich country price range to a third world country price range?
I am aware that we should always expect a 10 to 20% increase on the bill for tax and service. But here it's a 35% increase...They just wanted to rip me off...Really sad but not unusual in...
Read moreWhile exploring the Westbank scene our last night in Luxor (we spent most of the stay on the Eastbank which is where our hotel was), we stumbled upon the Nile View restaurant actually looking for another restaurant we had Googled and couldn't have been happier with what we found.
The views were absolutely stunning from our outdoor table and the bon-fires lit by us added a really nice touch and warmth to a relatively cool January night. The food was delicious with everything tasting so fresh in addition to the fruit juices.
We were a bit surprised by the lack of hookah/shisha options they had (pretty much only a single flavor) but it was nice enough and satisfied the craving we had. On top of all of that, the staff was extremely attentive and friendly; even to the point of helping us setup a boat ride back to the Eastbank and actually escorting across - an act of kindness that I'm sure we'll never forget.
All in all, it was an awesome experience and we look forward to round 2 on our next...
Read moreWow, restaurant right on the Nile banks. West Bank was easily my favourite place to eat and we can back here multiple times. Staff are friendly and the restaurant is quaint. There is an outdoor and indoor section. We ate outdoors, and loved it. The food was delicious and good portion sizes and very affordable prices. Great local dishes, we didnt try the western dishes. The chicken curry and chicken and ginger were our favourites, great flavours. Seating is on typical egyptian furniture, with neighborhood cats playing at your feet. This is typical in egypt so don't be put off, they are friendly. Definitely recommend to eat here! The ferry is close by, or there are boats across the river if your staying in the hotels on the East bank. :) For 3ppl we typical would spend around 300-400...
