Wow, wow, wow. I've been living in Cairo for the past 3.5 years and just recently discovered this gem, it was my 2nd time here and just as mouthwatering as the 1st time. How I wish I had known about Tabkha Space sooner! This is the best food I have eaten not just in Cairo, but all over Egypt! Can't recommend enough, the food is fine dining quality without the high price, the ambiance is simple and beautiful, outdoors under the shade of a tree, and of course the one man that makes it all happen, Hakim. Not only does he pour his heart and soul into his food (which is evident from the first bite), but his passion and care for his work shines through in his careful selection of what is fresh in the markets daily, what is in season, and from there his craft starts till it reaches your table. A true, great surprise. This is one of those places that absolutely must be discovered and savored when visiting Cairo. Don’t expect any fancy spaces or tables to reserve. You arrive there, and there’s a kitchen that’s very much on display and a few outdoor tables, regardless of the temperature. In February it’s cool, but you quickly warm up thanks to Hacheem’s passion and love for his work, as he cooks, serves, and manages his place with extreme elegance. If you’re in Cairo, doesn’t matter if you are just visiting or live there; checking out Tabkha Space is a must. You won’t find the kind of food served here anywhere close in the area. Hakeem (the owner) provides fresh “home cooked” meals that always include love. His menu is different daily since the market’s morning availabilities dictate his dishes. His skill and creativity bring it all together while providing a peaceful dining experience with good music and friendly service.
