Pier88 Nile River — Restaurant in Geziret al Zamalik, Jazirat al Zamalik

This is my second review after one year from my previous one ( below):

Again in my visit to Egypt in the summer of 22 I visited Pier 88 because it must be on my visit list to Egypt . And this time is not to praise the food or to announce my surprise, as I did in the previous review.. I know how wonderful and perfect the food at Pierre is. But this time, Pierre Restaurant continued to surprise me, but in a different way, which is that I was surprised when one of the waiters approached me and thanking me. Then I asked him what do you thank me for. He said to me, you are the one who presented earlier and wrote a positive review about the restaurant and its employees? I said yes. He said, “Did you know that we were all rewarded by the administration after what you wrote about us and the restaurant, and for this I thank you.” Wow, how happy moments were when I listened to him, and how surprised I was by the administration's keenness to motivate its employees and their interest in our opinions. Pier 88 Restaurant Thank you very much again for your advanced level and the constructive culture that u have . Pier 88 You always surprise me with your brilliance.

First review: 2021

Really i surprised when i visited this place . The food standard were very high. Really it was the best fine dine experience in cairo . From the other side. The stuff were so professional specially cairo standard . Ill never miss this place in my next visits to cairo . The T bone steak , i swear it matched what i experienced in Tuscany the original home of forintina steak ( T bone ) . And the Loposter pasta was out of this world , extremely balanced and rich. I rarely think to post an online review, but this i felt i should do. Thank u pier 88 for this lovely and delicious...

We went for dinner on a weekday. We started off with drinks - dirty dry martini and wine, the bartender screwed up the martinis and had to redo them.

The food was just about excellent. We started off with the steak tartar and the beef carpaccio. The tartare was well seasoned and served with a well crafted yet short supply of crisps. The carpaccio was flavorful but pretty standard.

For our main courses, we had the beef filet and the grilled shrimp pasta. The filet was cooked to a perfect medium rare, was well caramelized and perfectly seasoned, although the accompanying fries did not live up to the same standards. The shrimp pasta was served Al dente and the flavors of shrimp and spices in the dish married very well. Overall both were exceptionally good dishes.

For desert, we tried the chocolate fondue. The portion was almost challengingly small but the textures and flavors were good.

The place is very pricey - the food does live up to the price point, however the service certainly does not. We spent a considerable amount of time throughout the evening waving our hands in the air trying to get someone’s attention, which is quite pathetic in an establishment like this.

The other laughable matter was how tightly packed the tables are! It’s ridiculous! We were seated at the tables right by the river outdoors, and every time someone needed to use the restroom, the person next to them had to literally get completely out of their seat, and the other person had to jump on top of the seat next to them to get out. Same again to get back it. We had a laugh about it but it wasn’t that funny.

Overall I would recommend it for fine dining in Egypt, mostly because of the shortage of other fine dining...
