Khedive or Zamalek tree — Attraction in Geziret al Zamalik, Jazirat al Zamalik

Zamalek is one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in Cairo, from its stunning Nile views to its streets that embody the beauty of modern Cairo. One of the most popular symbols of Zamalek is the enormous banyan tree located on Al-Burj Street, which leads to the Cairo Tower. The Cairo Tower Tree, or Zamalek Tree, is over 150 years old and is unmissable when passing through the area. In 1868, Khedive Ismail ordered it brought from India and planted there for its beauty and ability to provide shade. It is one of the oldest banyan trees in Cairo, and the only one left.
