Aladdin Cafe — Restaurant in South Sinai

Beware! This place is a scam.

My friend and I were looking for hookah but hadn't realised that it was banned temporarily in Egypt due to Covid. We were approached by some of the men outside and told that they had it, so we entered. They then asked us what drinks we wanted, but wouldn't give us a menu. He said the hookah was on its way but it never came. After we realised that it wasn't coming, we got the bill which came to 515 EGP / 25 GBP / 2500 RUB for 2 beers.

We complained and said it was overpriced, and that they'd intentionally lied to us in order to scam us. They then got extremely aggressive and wouldn't let us leave without paying everything. We then said we at least wanted to remove the service fee, and they wouldn't allow us to, shouting in our faces and abusing us verbally. We were forced to pay the full fee to leave.

For other tourists: this bar is a scam, and a lot of the other similar ones on this street are scams too. They use the music and dancing as a way to draw people in and take their money. Read some of the other reviews and...

This place is the definition of a tourist trap run by thieves who's only objective is to rip off as many tourists as possible. Before entering the establishment we asked to see a menu with prices. 200 EL for cocktails, 100 EL for beers and 100 EL for shisha seemed reasonable enough plus the place seemed to be busy so we decided to give it a go. The drinks were absolutely disgusting and not a single one of our group finished their drink. The shisha was supposed to be blueberry flavour but tasted of nothing. When it was time to leave, they tried to charge us about 600 EL extra for "taxes" etc which we flat out refused to pay as we had asked the prices before we went in and were not willing to pay more than the menu prices stated. This place is an absolute scam. We specifically came for a dessert called Basbusa, which the waiter assured us was on the menu. However, when our order arrived, it was clear they didn't have it. When we asked the manager about the mix-up, he was extremely rude and dismissive, offering no solution or apology. The staff did absolutely nothing to address the problem or make amends. Our experience was incredibly disappointing, and it was a horrible mistake to dine there. Avoid this restaurant...
