Tommi Grill. A restaurant at prime location in between rotermanni, viru hotel and old town. Modern interior and lighting, regular dark color tables with few sofa versions at the windowside. Drinks are on the cheaper side on prices, beer 0.5l 4€. Whitewine bottles around 25€. Our first visit 20.9.2020, we had beef steak and Tommi's kebab. Both dishes were good, especially the steak was very tasty and tender, on side there was garlic potatos, also great. The kebab dish was bit different from the usual grill style döner kebab what i was used to. The kebab was more like ripped roasted pork slides that the usual thing which you carve from the rotating stick. So if ya want traditional döner kebab, you don't find it here. Nevertheless, food was good and the kebab came inside a flatbread which was also bit different. Atmosphere is cozy as overall. Staff was very polite and friendly. We got to taste different wines before buying a bottle. Rating only 4 stars because the kebab dish was different and fries on the side were bit bland. Traditional kebab with thin crispy, well seasoned fries and our experience was 5/5. Good for families of all size. If this place is worth of revisiting, remains to be seen when competition is...

But be warned... you need to make orders from the desk by yourself and you need to go and get the menu by yourself. So this is not some Hilton here... although waitresses do bring the food to tables, smile nicely and speak english without problems.
Tommi Grill Metro is in the heart of the city, so it's a short walk to anywhere when you want to continue to old town, shopping or even to cinema/movies.
Because of that - and quite cheap alcohol, this place is often full. And yes, some of customers are quite drunk and you may even find local workmen starting their weekend (with beer and booze) from here.
So... if you have kids, maybe try another place (like Basiilik which is quite near at cinema building). Or if you want extra ordinary culinary experience including super brilliant food or service, maybe try...
Read moreGood location and definitely a destination for Finnish people as when you are walking to the city from the port, it is just on your way. The price-quantity ratio is just great and be sure to give Tommi kebab a try - massive amount of food for a decent price. The happy hour runs from 5 to 8, but you can just go there a few minutes before 8, buy a bunch of happy hour sets and take them out one by one - they don't pour them out right when happy hour ends or the moment you are buying them as most places do. Usually the clients there are decent, but on some nights can get very loud. Only minus is that it is only open 'til 11pm (every day) though places like this are usually...
