Quite nice thai restaurant located at the gentrification shopping center in the central Helsinki. Price to quality is good but not amazing when ordering from their à la carte menu. Lunchtime this place is amazing and seemingly popular.
Prices from their menu are from 12 to 19 Euros which isn't too bad. Food is great here so strongly recommend still. It's expensive street like food from Thailand where these very same would probably cost a fraction but this is Finland where everything is expensive. In case you're looking for tasty and spicy thai food then this place is one of the best choices.
Milieu and atmosphere here is great. There's plenty of room for bigger groups too. This establishment isn't exactly regular restaurant because there's a fraction more "street" feeling here. This restaurant is located at the food furnace at the second floor of this shopping center. Not that you'd expect to find a really good restaurant here.
Service is Thai oriented but in Finnish or English language. Employees are native Thai people so those wanting truly genuine service can use their language too.
There's a fully functioning bar too. You can get stronger liquid beverages here too so even longer evening here is possible. But just remember that this place is located inside shopping center. It's closing earlier than other restaurants.
I recommend this place if you're looking for Thai oriented place for small or bigger group and don't expect it to be super romantic restaurant. This venue is really at the heart of Helsinki and easily accessible from everywhere in...
Read moreThis restaurant needs to seriously review itself. We went there at a decent 12 on for lunch. The salad table was sight of utter apathy towards food. Generic salad with thousand island dressing, frozen sweet corn and butchered pieces of melons don't make a salad. The fritters were already over and after requesting for them, only after our meal was half way done they told us that they will not be making any more fritters. We ordered for a roasted pork in red sauce and a portion of stir fried rice noodles. The order took exceptionally long to arrive. Perhaps it would still be worth it if the food was atleast hot. The pork with red sauce came in room temperature. Not only that it was garnished with limp leaves of coriander and the sauce was too saturated and not at all nuanced. The pork looked like it was sliced and dunvke into the sauce. The stir fry noodles were atleast hot but that also could not save the butchered state of noodles and chixken. The chicken looked like precooked finfib chunks of chicken breast and a token on two pieces of bell peppers and three florets of broccoli. The taste was only spicy and oily. The accompaniments of sauces was utterly underwhelming. All together the only saving grace was the soup of the day. I am not sure why is it so difficult to be honest with food in this city? Definitely not going...
Read moreI've been to 2 restaurants in this chain multiple times. That probably tells something good. Hint in the end. ;)
The quality varies quite bit some days though but so far it's not been based on either of the restaurants.
My first visit was to City Center when (I think) it was the only one. The phad thai was bland and weirdly red evenly. After that ai had a long pause before hearing a few praises.
Tripla location offered me a really good Som Tam; one of the better ones I've had in Finland. That gave me confidence in the chain. And I've had multiple at least satisfying experiences in both restaurants I've ever been to.
Today I had a discounted Pad Ga Prao. And it was the most boring one ever. I can understand that the food can't be properly spicy here in tasteless Finland. And there are condiment for spicing it up. But this dish should have a good bit of the holy basil. Unfortunately it tasted in the food as little as I saw any of it; very little. Don't know if the discount has anything to do with it or not. It should not. Could be just a bad day for the chef.
All in all had more good than bad experiences.
This place does have a type of dish I've never seen anywhere else in Finland: whole fishes. They take a while, so be prepared. And these type of dishes have never let me...
