The first thing that surprised me was that there were no doormen or host to greet us. It’s a walk-in setup, even though you can make a reservation. You have to step all the way in next to the bar to be welcomed.
We sat down, went through the menu, and got our water. Then we waited for 30 minutes before anyone came to take our order. After placing our order, it took another 15–20 minutes for the food to arrive, which is understandable. My partner ordered a delicious creamy salmon soup, but my order was wrong, even though it was clearly stated to the waitress. After a quick back and forth, they took it back to the kitchen. She assured me it would take only five minutes to bring the correct dish, but it took much longer.
At least during this time, another waitress noticed I hadn’t been served yet, as my partner hadn’t touched her meal. Unfortunately, the snails with garlic butter I had ordered were burnt, completely ruining the garlic and herb flavors. What made this experience even worse was that the place wasn’t even packed, so there was no excuse for the delays and mistakes.
After this blunder, it felt like the service finally started to acknowledge us, and the server changed. From that point, the food started coming out in a timely manner and tasted good for a Finnish palate.

Read moreGreat place to try Finnish food. This place was recommended by my host, and this is why I decided to come here. The reason why they lost full marks with me it’s because of their customer service at the entrance. I walked in to be greeted the doorman. This was a walk-in, so he explained to me that there were no tables available (half the restaurant was empty) and adviced me to try doing reservations or “good luck other time that wasn’t the weekend”. So I walked out. I checked their online reservation queue just to find out there are SEVERAL openings for the night and the following days. So I made my reservation of course. I came back and got seated to the surprise of the not so welcoming doorman. The Salmon soup was way too oily, I really wouldn’t recommend it unless you want to try it. The waitress was friendly and convinced me to get dessert: I loved their leipäjustoa… such a simple thing yet very delicious. Apparently there is a fee also for leaving your jacket at the doorman… to what I must say there were no signs in English regarding this service fee. Overall the experience was mediocre, many tables were open, it seems to be a great place to come with friends for a “fancy” dinner, food was just OK. I don’t think I’d recommend this place to anyone...
Read moreThe food was simply amazing. Everything was fresh and cooked to perfection, from the perfectly cooked fish to the flavorful meatballs to the warm and comforting soup.
We went with the 3 course menu, which was a great venue. The wild mushroom soup was packed with flavor and not heavy. For the mains, I had the fish with horseradish sauce and my friend had meatballs with mashed potatoes and lingonberry sauce. Both were prepared perfectly!
For dessert, we had the warm caramel over frozen berries. This dessert was so unique and delicious. The caramel was perfectly sweet and the frozen berries were tart and refreshing.
In addition to the amazing food, the service was impeccable. The staff was friendly and attentive, and they made sure that I had everything I needed.
I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a truly authentic Finnish dining experience.
