Ravintola Papa J's — Restaurant in Porvoo sub-region

Visited this new restaurant by the beautiful riverside in Porvoo tonight. It's tiny but cosy, definitely worth visiting. Finally a great place just for adults - couples, friends & tiny groups! Families with young children have plenty of other options in Porvoo. Staff is young but friendly & professional. Everything went smoothly, as we made special diet known beforehand on our table reservation, so no extra waiting. We had the meat option with parmesan cheese french fries, which was delicious, steak perfectly done. The dish made for special diet (without pepper) was more delicious than the original though - as the sauce in it was heavenly good! 😋 There's only one option for dessert, crème brûlée, but I chose the strawberry cheesecake which I noticed on the counter. It was okay, but not worth recommending, so might be a better option to choose the crème brûlée on the menu. Would be great if there was at least one dessert option more. Was surprised there was only one cocktail option available, hopefully there will be more options later, as the summer is already here. But of course there was good wine & beer to have with your food. There's also starters & snacks on the menu, which we didn't have this time, as our visit was quite short. Would definitely appreciate if the reservation was for 2hrs instead of the 1.5hrs so it wouldn't feel like we're in the rush.

The atmosphere was cosy, people were polite, keeping the volume low enough, as there were adults having dinner. There was some music on the background but all we could hear tonight was bass. After talking with staff we learned there's going to be improvements with the music & sound reproduction laters, which is going to make this restaurant even more cosy. But as the staff was friendly & listened to customer's wishes carefully - all the recommended drinks were on point too - we enjoyed our visit very much, and we'll definitely make this our go to -restaurant in Porvoo! No pictures today, we were so well taken by the experience itself. I recommend making a table reservation & informing the kitchen about any special dietary requirements. Came here yesterday and enjoyed this new and elegant restaurant right by the river in Porvoo. The dishes are very creative and use some ingredients that you can't find to often in restaurant cuisine e.g. nduja, peach, pistachios. It was so refreshing to see some innovative and creative flavour combinations.

I went for the nduja pasta followed by rhubarb creme brûlée. So very tasty, freshly prepared and well presented!

The restaurant inside is modern, elegant and well kept. The star of my stay was the service - Nina was lovely, warm and friendly. A top dining experience and I am looking forward to...

A stunningly beautiful new restaurant, probably the most beautiful spot in Porvoo. The service was excellent, very friendly and professional. We came for brunch and, unfortunately, the food was quite a disappointment. The selection of food was very limited, it was just vegetables in different combinations with very dry chicken and they didn’t taste particularly fresh or flavorful. You can add small dishes for €6-we tried the Skagen which was okay. We’ll probably come back to try the à la carte menu, as the setting is truly lovely.
