Fish Frenzy sits right on Elizabeth Street Pier, so the moment you collect your order you also get a postcard view of sailboats bobbing on the Derwent. Tldr: I dunno I expected better fish.

So Fish Frenzy is one of the top rated casual fish and chip restaurant near the Pier. Reading all the reviews before arriving to Hobart was expecting amazing fish and chips. The interior is like a Cafe and very cosy. If you have a parry try to snag a table first then order at the front and quote your table number. It gets full really quick but there's outside seating and staff can turn on the heater as well.

Each meal gets a free sauce (tartar or sweet chilli Mayo) put there's also chicken salt, tomato sauce and malted vinegar avilabale so that's good! Menu is extensive and they have special as well such as a laksa which is interesting.

Ordered their name sake "Fish Frenzy" which consisted of 3 scallop, 3 calamari, two fish cuts and chips. Can't change the batter as it's already pre portioned so was that sad a red flag. Came our pretty fast in a come like the good old days. Chips are bit better than bog standard fish, calamari was nice. The scallop couldn't really taste anything through the batter and the fish itself was bad. It was flakey but very very dry feel like I'm eating those bird eye frozen fish and the mayo and vinegar didn't help it sadly.

Overall it was a okay meal but expected way better considering its google rating. Maybe grab their fish of the day since it's fresh rather than...

Had been waiting to try this place since arriving in Tassie Dec ‘23 and frankly a little disappointed. Paid $42 for gluten free fish and chips + glass of house sparkling.

So first of all on entry I asked a male (very loud speaking) staff member where to order and was directed to a certain place at the counter. When I began to order, the senior female staff member told me off because I was standing in the wrong place! She was abrupt and not terribly service minded.

I have a walking stick so a little bit compromised with mobility. Although this place has table service it is not very obvious when walking in that you need to have a designated table number although I saw the sign on the WAY OUT. So I wasn’t offered table service and had to hobble back to the counter to get my meal. No offer to assist me juggling meal plate and wine glass and walking stick.

Also was NOT advised at all that free tartare sauce was sitting in the bottom of the non-alcoholic drink fridge. At no time did the tired looking senior female staff member advise me where the sauce was. So I just assumed that there wasn’t any.

Rather awful acoustics. Especially with the exceptionally loud and boisterous tall male staff member.
