it was 145pm , which might be a bit late for lunch, when we visited the basserie on 9 June 2025, our last day in Aix en provence before leaving to Cannes. Greeted by a male staff whose humour I did not appreciate. As mutual feeling , he was not keen to serve us and passed us to another staff Christian. Read moreI would have given more stars if it wasn’t for the very poor service. Our waiter Hugo was abrupt, unfriendly and unhelpful. After 30 minutes I went to find him and said that we were ready to order. Still nothing. I had to ask a different waiter to take our order. He was much more friendly and apologetic. In total we waited over an hour for our meal. We ordered a second glass of wine (because of the long wait) which never came. Our waiter was rude – he kept walking away mid-conversation, cutting himself off to talk to other staff while we were still speaking to him. It felt dismissive and unprofessional. To top it off, he awkwardly asked for a tip at the end, even though service is already included in France. It made the whole experience uncomfortable. A real shame, as the food was actually delicious....
