Expected more given the stellar reviews and the price point, but the flavours were mostly plain and the portion sizes for the entrée and dessert were a bit too big.
If eating as 2, I'd recommend sharing an entrée and dessert.
Zucchini fritter - yummy starter, well seasoned
House bread - Quite sad, not soft, not textured, little flavour. Felt like grocery store bread
Foie gras crème brûlée (entrée) - honestly big enough for two. Flavour was nice, though it got a bit boring after a while. Also served with too few toasts for its size.
Dos de cabillaud (plat) - cod was nice and delicate but overall the dish had too simple of a flavour. Also not very visually appealing as everything is just buried in sauce
Sphère chocolat lactée, ananas, noix de coco et citron (dessert) - house special dessert that day. Probably my favourite course, lots of interesting complementary flavours. But again, so much food, could've been split between two people (the ball is filled entirely with the...
Read moreWe were seriously disappointed by our dinner here. The outdoor dining area was nice, the service was okay (we were never asked how we were enjoying the food or if we needed anything; perhaps the fact that most of our plates were returned with half the food still on them was indication enough?), and food all came out looking beautiful, but the flavor was just bad. Our appetizers were bland, the veal main was very tough and accompanied by vegetables that seemed to have been boiled and then put on the plate without seasoning, and even though we were still hungry when the final course arrived we did not finish the cheese plate, which was the worst we've had in France. We so wanted to love this place, but it was not a good experience. The price point is high and sorry to say, it's not justified by the quality...
Read moreFinished our delicious three course gastronomique experience and are waddling back to our hotel! Original food, cooked beautifully and presented so elegantly. Really special restaurant. Chapeau to Chef Alain. Main course special today was a blue lobster with lobster bisque flavoured with pastis, polenta and a huge variety of delicious vegetables. Paired with a glass of Chateau Gaurade white, the main course was delicious. The lemon mousse looked too good to crack open! So clever how the cocoa butter shell looks just like the real thing. As it is summer, we sat outside. If you are in Aix and you love good, ingenious food prepared with the freshest of ingredients then don’t miss this restaurant. It’s fantastic and less than a 10 min walk from the Mirabeau fountain. Merci:) just...
