Annecy is a beautiful and wonderful city with many restaurants. However, after spending a week here, it has become apparent to me that some restaurants understand the importance of great customer service and others don't. To begin, I can share the great aspects of Bistrot L'Atlas. They cooked the best tasting tartiflette we've had on our trip so far (after eating at around 20 other restaurants). It was also a beautiful place to eat near the canal, great proximity to Lake Annecy, and had English translated menus.
Now, for things that didn't go well. We had a table of 6 that was the first party to be seated of the evening, at 7pm sharp (August 10th) upon opening. We asked for 2 bottles of water and only received one. She also asked if we were ready to order food and we told her we needed a while longer. She came back within minutes and declared it was time for us to order. *Note: this is the last time we will see our waitress for 2 hours). Next, my friend and I ordered fondue. When our food was brought out, we each received our meat and salad plate, but only one small bowl of bread. Not only that, but no one ever lit our fondue warmer so our fondue separated and became chunky and cold within 5-10 minutes. We tried to get the attention of literally any waiter or waitress, since we couldn't find ours, to request more water (it was very hot out and one liter for 6 people didn't last long), get our other serving of bread, and ask for our fondue to get lit, but we couldn't get any one to stop at our table as it was quite busy. We were done eating within 45 minutes and had given up on saving our fondue and getting more bread and water, but just wanted our ticket. But once again, we sat for another 45 minutes before we successfully flagged a waiter over. In that time period, it seemed as if the kitchen was cranking out great food very quickly but the service couldn't keep up. Waiters and waitresses were dropping dishes as everyone was in a rush to clear the tables, yet no one came to clear ours. To successfully gain the attention of a waiter, I had to nearly enter the kitchen and ask for help to speak to someone who knew English. I explain that the fondue set had not been lit, we received half the bread portion, were not given water, and hadn't seen our waitress in a hour and a half. A waiter followed me back to our table and understood what the problem was after seeing our fondue cheese. He brought our fondue to show the kitchen. We asked him for water and the ticket. Nothing happens for another 20-30 minutes so I seek out another waiter to see what is happening. This one was very nice and told us one of our fondues would be removed from the ticket. He was very nice. But yet, no ticket was brought.
Finally, we look up and our original waitress is here. She says "all done?" We respond with "where have you been? Why haven't you brought us water or checked on us so we could save our fondue in time?" She apologizes and starts running for more water. Only one once again, which barely fills 6 glasses but at least we got some. She gives us our ticket finally with both orders of fondue removed. Thank you lord.
Ultimately, the kitchen and flavors of food was amazing but they could use some better customer service. At least they made it right by the end. What...
Read moreRaw chicken. Avoid. I've never written a negative review on an establishment before but I am so horrified by my experience with the food and management of this restaurant that I feel I should warn people not to go here.
Was served a chicken burger which seemed fine for the most but when I got to the final third I realised I'd bitten into uncooked chicken. Naturally I panicked and am now sitting home fearing I'll get food poisoning.
On alerting management we were first offered a free drink which I obviously didn't want, and we requested that we didn't pay for the meal with raw meat. I was accused of deliberately eating the whole meal and only alerting at the end so I didn't have to pay for it. Why on earth anyone would eat raw chicken and risk food poisoning just to get one over on a restaurant I don't know. The management became very aggressive and offered us a 4 euro discount. He was pacing about behind the bar, was unbelievably rude & belittling and implying that it wasn't a problem to serve raw chicken. When I asked him if he were happy for me to record him saying he thought it was acceptable he served raw meat he completely changed his tune and finally took the raw meat off the bill. Nonetheless the encounter ended with him behaving in a threatening way by saying that if he were visiting my country he wouldn't behave that way.
Absolutely horrible experience where I left very upset, and just have to hope now that I don't get very ill from the food.
Strongly recommended people read the other reviews on this place about the attitude of the manager before visiting because I've honestly never experienced anything so...
Read moreWe came for this restaurant this evening, the menu is on the big stand, but in the small menu I couldn’t find the same options , which gives you feelings you can’t find what you like. The plate came to us, and I found it was not that I was expected. The wok dish came with the normal pasta and not with the pasta rise which should be in the plate, the shrimps smelled not fresh honestly, and there were just 3 peace of vegetable asiatic, in general very small plate to eat , but the worst was the sensation that you can’t eat here at all, because in the 15 minutes that we could permiss our nervous system to stay here, we had millions of flies, which maybe were sitting on the garbich 10 minutes ago and now they didn’t gave me the possibility to eat because they were in my plate and plate of my husband. When I want to eat and the flies seated on my spoon it made me disgusting sensation. So what we did, we went to pay directly. Never...
