L'Etage is a seemingly nice restaurant in the heart of the old part of Annecy, unfortunately the charming interior, pleasant staff and great location could not make up for the terrible food. The pasta that came with the milanese was plain pasta that was so oily (and not with good tasting oil) with literally 2 cherry tomatoes cut in half to garnish it. We also got a chicken dish advertise as a rice pilaf and were served a piece of chicken with a side bowl of plain white rice, which not only was NOT a pilaf but was dry and unseasoned. Roasted bone marrow entree was alright. The dessert (mi cuit chocolate cake) was nothing to brag about either. The only thing that saved the meal was the good wine which was recommended by the staff, it was excellent. This restaurant does a lot of raclette and fondue which perhaps would be a better choice although the couple next to were having the raclette and were less than impressed as well. It has potential to be a lovely place, its unfortunate the...
Read moreShame on you L'Etage! We went to this restaurant to go for a lunch on a warm and sunny day. As we do more often along our journeys and on the way. The waitress came to us and asked if we wanted to drink. We replied, yes please and thats were she misunderstood us, I think. Se asked us to leave as only food is served. We replied that something to drink along the lunch is preffered. She asked again to leave and walked away. We didn't get the change to explain. As she treated us in a very, very inapropiated way.
We are coming to Annecy for years now, I have lived here for some months and I will be here many more times in the future. But this restaurant we will pass by from now on and here is why. There are many more beautifull places to go where they treat their guests with respect, like how it should be. You are lucky with the prominent spot at the start of the city center, the only reason of your existence.. Shame on...
Read moreNOT RECOMMENDED. We had a very disappointing dinner here. Several staff members came across as quite impolite, particularly a waitress who was serving on the first floor. The glasses were not clean, and when we raised the issue, the waitress claimed it was caused by “friction between the glasses” and said they “work very hard”. But one of the glasses we were given had visible smudges, which is unacceptable in any dining environment. During our meal, the same waitress bumped into one of us quite forcefully while walking past and didn’t acknowledge it or apologize. That kind of inattentiveness and lack of courtesy left a very poor impression. The service felt disorganized, and the staff didn’t seem equipped to manage the number of customers. Lastly, the fondue was overly salty and lacked variety. Considering the price, both the food and the service were disappointing. I wouldn’t return or recommend this place based...
