Hanoi Ca Phe — Restaurant in Arrondissement of Nanterre

This place is a complete scam! The menu is misleading, the wait is excruciating, and the food is absolutely terrible. It was the worst meal I’ve ever had in Paris!

We ordered the Pot-Ô-Phó (€18.90) and the Giant Banh‑Mi (€18.90). The menu says rice noodles, thinly sliced beef, pickled carrots/red onion, and spiced broth for the Pot-Ô-Phó, and crispy chicken, Maggi mayo, pickled carrot & cucumber, lettuce, and cilantro for the Banh‑Mi.

After a 45-minute wait, we finally got our food. The Phở arrived in a kettle, but the soup was bland. The beef wasn’t thinly sliced at all; it was more like a thick piece of meat with a strong, organ-like flavor. There were no pickled carrots or red onion, which is what the menu said.

The Banh‑Mi was even worse. It was mostly just a baguette with lettuce and mayo, filled with mushrooms, not chicken. There were no pickled carrots or cucumbers either. It didn’t even resemble a banh‑mi by any reasonable standard.

For the price and the 4.5★ rating, this was a major letdown. The food was seriously disgusting. Take a look at that thick meat in the picture. “Thinly sliced beef?” It was a gross organ-like piece of flesh.

The restaurant wasn’t even half full at the time, and they kept saying there were too many orders. What a joke! The food was so bad that it was disgusting.

The worst pho I've ever had in my entire life.

Backstory: I'm from NYC where there's many Vietnamese restaurants. Some are owned by Chinese people and they're ok. Some are owned by Vietnamese people and they're great. Some are owned by other people and they're a little bad.

This. Is. The. Worst.

The beef was very tough or tasted very bad. The broth had no flavor.

Disclaimer: I have been here in France for 6 days now and this entire time it was hot and sunny. Sunday was cool and cloudy like it's about to rain so I was craving pho. Now APPARENTLY ALL THE LEGIT PHO PLACES CLOSE ON SUNDAY BECAUSE I WAS SCROLLING AND EVERYTHING SAID OPENS MONDAY.

I COULD'VE had phenomenal Viet food any day of the week. But the one day that I wanted a hearty noodle broth soup, they're all resting.

So... Yeah. PERHAPS the one good chef for this restaurant also retires on Sundays which would explain the good ratings.

Nevertheless never come...

I ordered bowl of pho + a drink. The staff took my order ask me to pay immediately since she needed to end her shift at that moment which I’ve never experienced at the restaurant before. I still paid for my order. Few mins later, a new waiter came & brought me my drink. I was about to wait for my food so I could enjoy everything at the same time but noone brought my pho after 30mins passed. I was sitting there, saw the chef cleaning the whole kitchen, felt something wrong here. I immediately asked the waiter, he said he would check w the kitchen and respond. Disappointed but not so surprised, waiting nearly an hour for the food, also the waiter didnt give me any answer, the kitchen closed 🤷🏻‍♀️ My friend & I had to talk to the manager, the only thing he did was refund the bowl of pho, didnt see any effort to give a sincere apology. Not sure the owner trained the staffs or not since the way they do their job is so...
