Avignon seems to come alive only after 7 pm. At 7:30, we went to three restaurants in a row and all were full. Desperately searching for food, we settled on this spacious, elegant, and expensively looking place because they didn’t require a reservation and there were plenty of tables available. Our initial uncertainty about the place was immediately washed away by a free appetizer made of tomato and goat cheese, light, extremely fresh, setting up the mood for a finely crafted three course meal: the entree was a butter-squash soup, mild, slight sweet, out of this world; the plate was a naturally flavoured fish that must be eaten with the secret tasty sauce; the desert was a cheese cake with peanuts that epitomizes how a cheese cake should be, not what you eat at the cheese cake factory in America! Talking about America, our meal was slightly ruined by an American next table: he talked loudly and nonstop, monopolizing the conversation while his female companions could not get a word in. When the bill arrived, it’s only 40 for each including service. With this kind of food, service, and price, we have no complaints. This is a place that should be full every Friday. You should go because we...

Beautiful courtyard setting in a quaint part of Avignon near the Mvsevm. We had high expectations, but the service, and food fell short. Our first waiter was distracted, impatient, terse and rude. First our complete drink order, five guests, didn't arrive together, then the same thing happened with our starter course. Getting his attention to remind him to bring the complete order was almost impossible (and the restaurant wasn't really busy). I expect a long evening for dinner in France, but this was unacceptably long. The time between courses was just to long, Another waiter took over our table, and he was much nicer, but not much quicker. Other tables around us seemed to have better timed service. My salad was excellent, my scallops main was well presented, but, though perfectly cooked, the scallops had little/no flavor on a bed of tasty, but lukewarm Ramen. Good flavor, but hard to tell if they were supposed to be hot or cold. My caramel cheesecake dessert was good. Overall a disappointing evening considering the price. Not sure...

We were glad we found a table for lunch here as it seemed like a nice place, attended by many locals. But they messed up our orders completely, I got my entree while the entree for my husband was not correct so they took it away, so I had to start lunch alone? Then the plates arrived in the wrong sequence as well. When I finally got the fish it was very bad, tasting as it has been kept in the oven for 2 hours already. Terrible. After complaining it took some time to get a new dish. That one was quite okay, so they proved they can bake a good fish. Who do you think you are fooling …? To summarize, we spent half of our time waiting on each others dishes to arrive. The waiters felt bad for us and we were offered a free glass of wine, which my husband accepted. Having to say the wine by the glass is expensive and not generously served. We were charged the full menu including the extra charges which applied to our menu- choices. I think the entire staff was aware of the poor performance so some extra compensation would have been fair. The...

Upon our arrival, the hostess at the front desk almost seemed reluctant to seat us down which immediately left us to not feel welcomed at the beginning of the meal. We asked if she spoke English to which she replied yes but then proceeded to leave us with french menus. It was only when we asked another waiter did we get access to the English menus. For the mains we ordered the lamb shanks and the scallop risotto. The lamb was rather dry and the risotto was overly salty and cheesy. We were bitterly disappointed to say the least. Finally when we asked for the bill, we were told to go straight up to the front desk despite the tables amongst who all appeared to have bills and payments made at their tables instead. The inconsistent treatment received left us unimpressed. Would not recommend this place and don't intend to visit ever again
