In & Off — Restaurant in Avignon

Visited with a friend while staying for a few days in Avignon. We left this place just feeling rather sad at the welcome we received from the team. We asked if we could sit in the main restaurant instead of the outdoor. Had it not have been for one single waiter we would not have stayed. I am sure I will spell this incorrectly but Marmed who actually deserves 10 stars spoke with the rest of the staff to explain to them that it was okay for us to sit in the restaurant. We could gather a little from the conversation that they did not want us to sit inside as they had to re do the table after we had finished. Our main meal was really good, my dessert exceptional and the glass of wine really great. The positive was that just one member of the team wanted us to have the best of evenings. In many ways this restaurant has so very much on its side truly beautiful surroundings, huge expanse and I am sure a hard working team, but maybe just maybe worth reviewing on how easy it can be to add sadness to someone’s holiday when you have the ability to...

I cannot judge the drinks or food, because we couldn't even be served there. We went on a Wednesday around noon, the place almost empty. We were received by one of the servers and told him that we were only interested on having some drinks while we waited for the rest of our group to arrive later. The first server showed us a table for that, and then a second server arrives asking us to move to a different table as he was about to set it up for lunch. So we move to a different table. We waited for about 25 min to have a server bring us the menu, and once a different server finally arrives, he is very upset about the fact that we're only there for a drink and asks us in a not so polite way to move even further. At that point we've reached out limit and left. FYI, this is not a language issue, as I speak french and my husband is french. It's just the worst service ever, and still, at the end they had only 2 tables to serve...

Total tourist trap! Apart from amazing view and location, spoilt culinary experience. Staff miserable (especially comparing to other, busy, French restaurants where everyone is genuinely very friendly!), not very helpful as they don’t listen. Do not order chicken Cesar salad! Cold chicken, cheap lettuce with watery, what seems to be milk & garlic sauce! I asked for an extra portion as there was virtually no sauce. It’s not a Cesar salad sauce!!! No hint of anchovies either. Came with :: tomatoes, cucumbers, Raddish, egg and Coleslaw! Change your name to - random chicken salad NOT Cesar! Rest of the menu seem same as everywhere else so seems to be they need a new chef. Not cheap either for what it is....
