Le vintage — Restaurant in Beaune

This was the worst restaurant experience I have had in years. We waited 1 hour for our starters, we were fobbed off with the wrong bottle of wine (the not very nice 2022 rather than the 2020 we ordered) and after 1 hour 30 minutes waiting for our mains we had had enough. Amazingly no apologies from the waiters or the owner, they consider this normal.

Every complaint was meant with complete indifference. They know they have a great tourist spot and don’t care about the service or food or anything else.

Eventually we left without our mains ever coming out, the owner did at that point apologise, not on his own behalf but but because his chef was incompetent. I then checked this with another member of staff who confirmed the translation. The owner basically didn’t give care because his chef was incompetent and he didn’t think he bore responsibility for that.

Le Vintage is owned by a charismatic guy. He didn’t speak great English but it was better than my French. I asked for the Infant Menu as it wasn’t displayed. He had a member of staff start to tell us what our eight yo daughter could have and she settled on a burger.

It was a huge burger cover in cheese which she didn’t like so we swapped. Most restaurants that don’t have a child menu will give you cut down versions of the adult dish but there was nothing cut down about this burger.

And when the bill came, the burger was charged at the full adult price which was actually more expensive than the lamb shank I’d ordered.

I felt conned as there was never any intention of charging me less for my daughter’s meal even though he pretended they did something special for kids.

So, if you have kids, this is not...

The reviews are somewhay confusing. Seeing reviews I dont think we would have came here. However many restaurants are closed between lunch to dinner and this place had lots of people at it. We were seated right away. Service was great from the beginning. Friendly. We got our food in a reasonable amount of time. The escargot was delicious. The food was really good for its price - the beef bourguignon was very tender and the sauce was good as well as the chicken was very moist. The apple pie was also really good although it would have been even better warmed but that may be preference. We got the lunch special which allowed u to get an app with an entree or entree...
